Ben Affleck's Batsuit & Batmobile Revealed

Posted May 13, 2014 04:21 PM by Webmaster

Warner 90th AnniversaryDirector Zack Snyder has debuted the first photograph of Ben Affleck's Batsuit and Batmobile, set to debut in Snyder's still untitled Man of Steel sequel. The black and white photo doesn't offer an idea as to the coloring of the suit or vehicle, but it does provide a clear look at the design and aesthetic of each.

Recently, Warner Bros. President of Worldwide Production Greg Silverman confirmed the studio's intent to produce a Justice League film as well, with Henry Cavill returning as Superman/Clark Kent, Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Princess Diana. Once again, Snyder is set to direct.

Man of Steel is already available on Blu-ray. Man of Steel 2 aka Superman vs. Batman is due in U.S. theaters May 2016, with the unofficially titled JLA to follow as early as 2018.

Looks great! I love the TDKR vibe! The pose is a little awkward, but that is all the negative criticism I can muster!

I think the ears should be taller i.e. Norm Breyfogle's BATMAN. Should be called World's Finest, not Batman vs. Superman.

It's nice to see a different style, there was another pic on some website I was on this A.M. and it was the batmobile with a cover thrown over it. Can't wait for this film. I hope Affleck surprises us all.

Gotta say, this could be great. I think they got the suit down atleast, hopefully everything else falls into place and we get a great film out of this.

Yes, but it's still Zack Snyder, so he hasn't developed a sense of humor yet. Expect to pounded over the head with more Dark Steel.

@Mr.Romo LOL the only flaw

No but seriously this thing looks f*ckin incredible, just out of a comic, in contrast to Nolan's realistic armored/gear suit. It could've been too similar to that one so I appreciate going in this direction. I'm a fan of longer ears but this suit still looks undeniably badass. Great job costume design team! If the movie is as good as this suit than we are in for something amazing, but you've got a long way to go to prove that to me Snyder after Man of Steel.

Looks great but I just can't muster any excitement about this film since it's directed by Zack Snyder. How this hack gets to direct such big movies baffles me to this day...

This looks pretty bad ass. Snyder redeemed himself for me with Man of Steel so I'm really curious to see how it turns out. Definitely has a lot to live up to after the Nolan flicks.

I guess I'm just too old school. I clearly see the Dark Knight Returns influence, but I'm really just tired of monochrome Batmen. The best Batman I've ever seen on film so far is the Batman in the "Batman: Dead End" short. Still, I'll wait to see how this looks in color and motion.

I was in the minority in that I totally approved of the casting of Affleck as Batman. I felt his roles in films like Dogma and The Town showed that he could play characters who were obsessed/tortured/driven. Just look at this screenshot from Dogma: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/screenshot.php?movieid=649&position=12. That completely is a look that Bruce Wayne would give when he's suddenly in an intense "Batman-esque" mode. So seeing the suit and what we can see of the Batmobile just reenforces what I've felt all along: Affleck is a good, solid choice for the role, and I hope he proves the naysayers wrong.

WILL POWER that's what people need. Stay at home, save your money and don't give it to Warner Brothers! Show Warner Brothers that their decision to cast Ben Affleck is a bad idea. Warner Brothers should wait a couple years and let Christopher Nolan to do other projects and take a break from Batman. Instead they are going to take Batman down to levels they did after Tim Burton left. Look how many years it took to restore Batman. The world needs to let the movie bomb at the box office. Then they might do as I say. Leonardo Dicaprio as The Riddler could portray him as a slick political villain as in the recent comics and who worked with Nolan will never take on the role now. Like everyone else who can't put their cell phone down and spend quality time with family and friends... they won't have the WILL POWER to skip this movie. Could you imagine being a fly on the wall when the movie opens up at # 3 at the box office? The Joker would be laughing his ass off!

Liking the short ears, the costume looks just right, now as long as they don't Goyer the script, this could be a giant improvement over Man of Stool. Just the inclusion of Batman alone makes it better already.

I did not care for Snyder's Man of Steel, so my expectations are low. And the suit looks horrible! Lets give him fake bulging muscles, and make him look like a penis in a black condom, with veins and all. I also agree that the bar has been set too high with the Bale/Nolan trilogy to warrant a reboot. But there is money to be made, so I'm not surprised. As for Ben Affleck ... fail as Daredevil, try again as a different super hero. He just doesn't fit as someone who I can believe in to portray Batman.

MetalMike666 I do not think those are fake muscles Affleck was reported to have had the trainer tell him to slow down as he was bulking up too much it may be him just like it was really Cavil in Man of Steel

If true, I stand corrected about the muscles/veins ... but it still looks horrible and doesn't make sense. Will a skin-tight suit (thin by it's nature) deflect bullets better than the thicker/flatter armor from the Nolan series? Anyway, if the 41 year old Affleck worked so hard to be this bulked/ripped using the current resources of fitness training I applaud him for the effort, as long as it was done without steroids/HGH/testosterone (like 67 year old Sylvester Stallone, who looks like a freak). In spite of my prejudices, I will give Affleck a chance in this role only because of Argo, the only movie I actually own and like of his.

The Batmobile looks like a cross between The Tumbler and the Michael Keaton/Tim Burton one. Very clever. When I saw the prior released photo of the "mostly covered" Batmobile on Snyder's Twitter page, it looked like they added a fin along the back, like in Batman Forever. Glad to see that's not the case and opted to not slap neon lights all over it. Lol ...plus, the rumors appear true in that they are going for the "Frank Miller's Batman" look. No complaints here...I assume now that Nolan's trilogy is a standalone and will have nothing to do with this upcoming Justice League venture?

I think it's a mistake to go into this film with any comparisons to Nolan's Batman. Like the books, every movie series/creative team, will likely inject some of their own style and sensibilities into the character, just as Burton and Schuemacker did. There is not one definitive version, IMO. Though that suit is clearly modeled after Miller's designs, with the short ears and broad bat chest-piece - it doesn't look like Affleck at all. If anything, it looks like he might be trying a little too hard to carry the role like Bale. Affleck isn't Bale. Good or bad, I hope he doesn't try or isn't pressured to pretend to be a knock-off of what WB thinks fans want.

All you haters will go see it, you know you will. Why hate on something you haven't even seen? Affleck will do great. Snyder is a great director. His movies are visually stunning. And for all the MoS haters that like the old cheesy Superman is a boy scout movies I got new for you Superman kills in the comics so deal with it.

I'm actually disappointed the new picture suggest this will be like Nolan's Batman's movies. Since they are going ahead with Ben Affleck I was hoping maybe they would infuse a little light comedy.
I am more of a fan of the Burton movies and love the old 60's Batman movie that starred Adam West. Nolan movies are so serious and moody, I hate what Miller and other Graphic novelists have done to the character.

I think suit nipples are a good idea because Batman could squirt Superman in the eye with Bat-milk during one of their battles.

@Ray_Rogers: "I think the ears should be taller i.e. Norm Breyfogle's BATMAN. Should be called World's Finest, not Batman vs. Superman."

I generally prefer the longer-ears look, but I'm also old-school enough to be a fan of the 1950s-style Batman by Dick Sprang and Win Mortimer, which this reminds me of.

About the title, calling it "World's Finest" seems a no-brainer to comics fans, but it would be lost on mainstream audiences.

@DirtyMoPosse: "WILL POWER that's what people need. Stay at home, save your money and don't give it to Warner Brothers! Show Warner Brothers that their decision to cast Ben Affleck is a bad idea."

I might be willing to do that if I thought casting Ben Affleck was a bad idea. If I skip this film, it'll be because I hated Man of Steel, and won't expect this one to be any better. I'll make that decision once more is known about the film, and more footage is released.

@MetalMike666: "As for Ben Affleck ... fail as Daredevil [...]"

I'm one of those weirdos who actually really liked Daredevil. But that aside, whatever flaws that film may or may not have had, I don't think Affleck was one of them.

I'm pretty sure this movie will be highly influenced by the Dark Knight Story by Frank Miller. Specifically the Dark Knight Falls which clearly this costume resembles right down to the Bat sign on his chest. There's also a slight possibility the suit is Dark grey and the cowl and cape is black. Looks a little different in tone in the pic. Also a reason to make the leaked photo black and white. Simply to not show the true color yet.
