There is no confirmation yet whether the series is coming to Blu-ray, or a preliminary release date to share with the community, but we assume that when the series finally arrives on the home video market it will be available on Blu-ray and DVD.

I don't get it. Why is Conan O'Brien getting this information? Is there something linking him to the original series that I'm missing?

Have we just slipped back in time? This news broke months ago and it was Conan O'Brien that tweeted it then. Why is everyone acting like they've just heard this?

@MoulinBlu
I would love for Smallville to be finished up on Blu-ray. Don't know if it'll happen. But I'm still very excited, as I imagine most people are, for this show to be FINALLY debuting on home video officially, and in good quality. Many generations haven't even seen this show. This is history-making man. It's huge. Probably the release of the year.

Wait a second, Conan didn't tweet even tweet today. And I swear Blu-ray.com already reported this news back in January like every other news site. Wtf?

Big news...five months ago when Conan tweeted it. I guess "Webmaster" never reads the blu-ray.com forum. I had hoped this was an official announcement. Still no luck

Wait, the ENTIRE series run on blu-ray? All 3 seasons, & Hopefully, the 1966 TV Movie? Sign me up!!

"It aired on the ABC network for three seasons from January 12, 1966 to March 14, 1968. The show was aired twice weekly for its first two seasons and weekly for the third, with a total of 120 episodes produced during its run"

Lol - as a couple people noted above, it seems as this is sort of "Old News":

"In January 2014, Conan O'Brien posted on his Twitter account, and later confirmed by Warner Bros., that Warner Bros. would release an official DVD box set of the complete series sometime in 2014. ----- On April 10, 2014 the website tvshowsondvd.com quoted Burt Ward in saying that Warner Bros. would release the complete series in late November 2014 in time for the Holiday season, and that he and Adam West were doing special features for the release."

This isn't really new news. Nothing mentioned is different from the last news we received from Conan. I don't get it, but I will get 'it'(the set).

Agree with you there Johnny boy! "Julie Newmar" and Diana Rigg were so hot; especially in leathers!! Just wish Diana Rigg would come out on high definition! Studio Canal have the rights and they are stuffing around... it's about time they released the Avengers TV series on Blu-ray too! It was shot on 35mm film and would look fantastic!

@aquagroove: With our luck "The Avengers" suffered the same fate as "Doctor Who" at the hands of the BBC and they don't have anything to convert to blu-ray.

And c'mon guys, where's the Yvonne Craig love?

bajor27 Yvonne Craig was very beautiful-sexy, and I did try to love her, but she wasn't evil! Finger lakes dave. I'm sure there are a lot of Avengers episodes lost, but there is enough with Diana Rigg and her successor on film that 'do' survive,
I have held off for the DVDs (of which there are many episodes) waiting for the big 'blu-ray'. Lets hope!

I'm really looking forward to this but If it's released as a complete set I just pray they don't use that horrible cardboard sleeve packaging that pretty much destroys the discs. As much as I want the show there's no way I'll spend $100 on up for something I know will be defective due to cheap packaging.

For what it's worth, during the Batman 75 panel at Wonder Con, panel moderator John Cunningham (who's DC VP of marketing) said Batman 66 is coming to DVD AND Blu-ray later this year. So there's that.

@Aerodude73 (and aquagroove): The 1966 movie -- actually a theatrical spinoff of the TV series, and the *only* time Lee Meriwether played Catwoman -- was released on BD by Fox way back in 2008 as "Batman: The Movie". You can already see Meriwether's Catwoman in HD; everyone's waiting for Julie Newmar & Eartha Kitt (and, of course, Yvonne Craig).
