Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 3D Combo Pack (3D Blu-ray/2D Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy) and Blu-ray Combo Pack (Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy) editions of Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Chris Cooper, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Sally Field, Felicity Jones and B.J. Novak. The two releases will be available for purchase on August 19th.
Note: Amazon will also have available for sale the Electro Collector's Edition (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD) of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Synopsis: We've always known that Spider-Man's most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. For him, there's no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

Where's pixarforlife that kept bugging for this? Anyway, I don't care what anybody says, I enjoyed this one a little better than the first. And the 3d was awesome! Definitely getting the 3d version. August is going to be an expensive month for sure!
IDK what to say about this movie .The action was cool. I just feel that the villains were really out of place .I enjoyed jami fox as eletro But ryno and green coblin were hardley in this film.It was not the perfect spiderman film.In fact i still enjoy the old spiderman film's.sam ramie i fetl was the best for those film's.Tho i feel this new one was a little better then teh old one.I just dont know really I wish we had more green goblin and less talking about bs.and ryno was only in the film for 30 second's of the very last part of the film. It's a really big shame.
I don't see what everyone is complaining about. I loved this movie. The action was jaw dropping, Dane Dehaan's Goblin was a great villain, the plot involving his parents was a long time coming and worth the wait especially that opening segment. Electro was kind of a mistreated, ignored individual who when imbued with power suddenly has all he ever wanted and decides due to his hero turning on him to take back what is his and use his power for his own gain. Harry's race against time was a great idea. Harry in the older films was just a bitter self absorbed jerk who had no other reason to be a villain but to kill spider man because he was hallucinating his dead father and using that a s a reason to launch a personal vendetta. That's not compelling, Norman was a villain who brought about his own demise he didn't deserve to be avenged. Harry in ASM 2 is slick, resourceful at first innocent but when driven by his need to survive he becomes vindictive and fuelled by hate and desire. He also is a fun villain to watch and has a proper character arc of villainy. Whereas harry in the rami trilogy took the serum and then suddenly was the goblin he never seemed like someone with the intelligence nor capability or drive to become a villain. With dehaan his treatment by his father, oscorp, his delusions about Spiderman's motives he was set on a path to villainy. By the time he put on the armour he was the goblin. He was sadistic in attitude to oscorp and took out two guards with some fighting finesse/skill. He manipulated electro into helping him into oscorp and then pretty much left him to his own devices once he no longer required him. Dehaan seemed like a person who was capable, had intelligence and had a sadistic attitude. Reasons like this and the Gwen arc and the scale of the movie is why I found it to best the best Spiderman movie I've ever seen. plus as stan lee said in 2012: Garfield "moves like spiderman, acts like spiderman, talks like spiderman. "Andrew's performance is straight out of the comics down to the emotional side and the humour of the character. Emma Stone is still amazing as Gwen Stacy and you really learn to love the character and the bond between her and peter. Which makes the third act of the film have even more emotional resonance. Can't wait til this hits Blu.
This was an example of trying to ape Marvel's franchise style the wrong way. This was basically a set up for the Sinister Six movies Sony wants to do, but the entire film felt unsatisfactory because of it. I'll buy it (I preordered it as soon as I could) because I'm collecting MCU/X-Men/Fantastic 4/Spider-Man movies, but this reboot of Spider-Man has been quite underwhelming so far.
Very disappointing film; it was essentially to the new series with Spider-Man 3 was to Sam Raimi's series. Too much going on in one movie, too much sappy drama and subplots, not enough actual action and fun. Plus you could tell the filmmakers wanted to build their own "Spidey Cinematic Universe" and dropped hints like there was no tomorrow. Usually I buy every major Marvel movie for the sake of completeness in my collection. This time I think I'll just ask for it for my birthday.
i already have the first film which was shot for digital 3D with the red epic. the 2nd was converted in post production where only SPI's pieces were in stereo and is a rare example of a franchise going from digital cameras to film cameras.
I did not see the film yet, but ive heard how great it is.
day 1 buy for me, the silver and blue scheme of the 3D one looks very attractive.
Very sweet. I thought it was gonna be a lonely Aug for movies for me. This is a treat. Didn't think this would hit till Oct latest. This and captain America weeks later. Nice 3d movies to add to the collection
I thought the Green Goblin in the first Sam Raimi was bad but the one in this movie has it beat. Jamie Foxx as Electro was terrible casting on par with Halle Berry as Storm. These were the only flaws I had with the movie. Other than that it was a pretty good movie with more action than the first movie. I will not provide a spoiler for those whom have yet to see the movie but the end was heart touching. P.S. This movie is WAY better than Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3!!!!
This movie started ok but I think it suffered from the same mistake Raimii made w/ his Spiderman 3 in that there was too much crammed into it. It had it's entertaining momments but towards the end it became jumbled. Should be a very nice Blu-ray. I'll pick it up.
Hope that's not the final artwork at least not for the 3D edition. I could care less about the 2D-only edition (not really, but just had to say it to counter all the unempathetic posters who don't like 3D and childishly act like they think nobody else should either) I agree I'd be far more interested in the bust if it was of Spider-man - good likeness of Jamie Foxx though.
Definitely will buy in August. Hoping their will be a steelbook available, fail that some kind of specially packaged edition (digibook). It appears that Walmart is the only one that can oblige me at this point.
I am a fan of the Spider-Man comics, and I loved the first one. I truly enjoyed this movie even more, and I will definitely be buying the 3D version. I saw it in IMAX 3D as well as real-d 3D and both times the 3D looked absoulutely amazing. Probably one of the best looking 3D movies of 2014 so far.
I think the blue and silver box is something to be amazed with and makes it look like the action movie it is, it's defined, proud, and aesthetically pleasing to look at. in the 3D combo pack, this makes it look good. very well balanced choice of colors, well done sony.
In 2D the color choice is identical to high school sports teams who use blue and white as their school colors, which could lead to very easy confusion between the 2D combo pack, and merchandise from your high school of those colors.
On a story level, this was a very disappointing movie. It lacked focus and had way too many coincidences to advance the plot. That said, the action sequences were still very entertaining. I was never bored. I'll be picking it up, maybe not day 1, but before too long.
I liked the movie in the theater, but found it to be pretty uneven. I would have rather seen more of Electro and just foreshadowing of Rhino and Green Goblin. Hell, until I saw the cover art I just thought of their appearances as a sneak preview. Very curious to see if the deleted scenes flesh out Electro a bit more as well as the cut Mary Jane footage.
Even if you are one of the few who enjoyed the way director Marc Webb painted the canvas, how many times are you willing to revisit 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'? I am more than willing to wait for a substantial price drop.
I did love the movie but the cover art/picture for both the regular blu ray and 3d blu ray should not have Rhino in it. For those who have seen the movie, you know what I'm talking about. I would still buy the 3d blu ray as part of my collection.
I love they offer Digital HD, but instead of the DVD I'd rather have Digital 3D as well so I can stream in 2D or 3D like the combo packs I see on VUDU often. I was hoping for The Neighbourhood "Honest" Video. No luck getting an alternate "happy" ending. Those things would be nice
