Warner Offers Peek at Fall Line-Up

Posted June 24, 2008 08:49 AM by Josh Dreuth

Warner Bros. Warner Home Video has revealed a piece of their upcoming Blu-ray releases scheduled for this fall at the Entertainment Merchants Association Conference in Las Vegas. At the event, they confirmed (again) that HBO's ground-breaking WWII series 'Band of Brothers' would be released this fall on Blu-ray.

Additionally, they revealed that 'JFK: Ultimate Collector's Edition', '300: Limited Collector's Edition', and 'Casablanca: Ultimate Collector's Edition' would all get releases. While no confirmation was given that these would be coming to Blu-ray, 'JFK' has already been rumored to be coming to Blu-ray, a new edition of '300' has been expected to include the Picture-in-Picture feature not included on the first Blu-ray release, and 'Casablanca' is an HD DVD release that still hasn't been brought over to Blu-ray.

Stay tuned, as we expect to see Blu-ray announcements for all these titles in the coming months.

I never picked up Band of Brothers on DVD because I figured they would release it on blu. Now my dream has come true. Just give me the Matrix and Heat and I will be satisfied for now.

i will double dip on the 300 release... i'm surprised someone hasn't asked if they'll fix the grain issues with the originial release /sarcasm.

Xerious, finally, someone else who wasn't happy with the original Blu-Ray release noticing grain! I was pretty disappointed in the picture quality for "300", as there appeared to be grain throughout, and should not have been since the majority of the film's background is computer generated.

I wouldn't be surprised if they release this "300" in a limited collector's edition, as studios will probably start doing that with Blu-Ray now....releasing a standard version on Blu-Ray and then followed a year or so later by a "special edition" just like we saw with standard DVD's over the years.

I will admit though, and I am kind of ashamed to admit, I have yet to see "Band of Brothers". LOL! I really want to, but every time I sit down to watch it, something comes up.

Heat would be amazing on Blu-Ray and I remember reading once that WB stated it would be out by Christmas 2008. Shawshank Redemption is expected out in October I believe as well.

Kinsella5... there's nothing wrong with the grain in 300. Xerious was being sarcastic. The grain is intentional, integral to the emotional impact of the film, and not going anywhere with this new edition.

Also, Band of Brothers is quite grainy, as it should be. This is the language of film, and it's important that it's maintained.

I hope people realize now why the grain is there in 300.....I see another month or so of agruments of "Why Is there Grain in my 300?" or "I only like grain in my cereal, not my movies: Official Thread of 300 grain issues"

JFK, Casablanca and Band of Brothers are a done deal. I might consider the new version of 300, if the pq is improved over the original. Couldn't care less about picture in picture.
