Dreamworks Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the Tim Burton horror masterpiece 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' to Blu-ray on October 21st, just in time for Halloween. Video will be presented in 1080p AVC and be accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. No special features have been announced at this time, but expect most, if not all, of the extras from the previously released collector's edition DVD.

For those who don't want to wait, remember that you can get the regular blu-ray, or the "steelbook" version, through www.xploitedcinema.com, a store based in the US.
By the way, I watched my copy yesterday and it looks very very good.
For those who don't know, the "steelbook" is exactly the same as the regular version, only in a metallic box. Very neat. But is up to you to decide if it's worth the $ 8 more. |

Finally!!!
I am still torn between this and the steelbook.
Cases aside, the price and features are going to be the determining factors for me. If this is cheaper
but has the same features, I will get the US release. If it is the same price or the UK has more
features, I will get the steelbook.
Once they announce the special features I will compare these and make my choice. |

I've been planning to import but I was waiting to see if Dreamworks would release this as an AVC.
Now, I will wait for the comparisons |

This is an excellent movie.
It IS a musical (or rather, a film adaptation of a play), but it is dark and not a happy film. If you like
revenge, death, murder, blood, twisted characters, and meat pies, you will love this movie. The play it
excellent, one of Sondheim's best!
Johnny can sing very well, as does the entire cast.
Oh, and the name is Sweeney Todd, not Sweeny. |

While Sweeney Todd was a dark, yet tragic movie to watch, this was definitely vintage Tim Burton and Johnny Depp at their best. A day one Blu-ray purchase is definitely in order!! |
