After nearly two years of waiting, Warner Home Video has delivered one of their most anticipated "make-up" films to Blu-ray with today's release of 'Batman Begins'. Back in October of 2006 when the film was initially released in high definition on the now defunct HD DVD format, the Blu-ray release was "delayed" due to lack of BonusView functionality in the players. Now, with plenty of BonusView Blu-ray players on the market, Warner is releasing this gem to the masses.
For those fans who just have to have it all, there is also the 'Batman Begins Limited Edition Gift Set' which includes many collectible items. While it includes the same disc as the regular release, the disc comes in a snazzy box with a comic book, lanyard, post cards, and a movie money ticket to see 'The Dark Knight'. These things always seem to sell, so if you think you may have an interest in this collectible item, better order now.

Got mine - this was my number 1 Blu-ray that the HD DVD folks had that made me jealous. I have waited a long time for this one - glad to have it. I'll be watching it when I get home!!!
Got mine on Monday. Between that and the fact thet blockbuster just shipped Jumper, Vantage Point and 10,000 B.C. (all Blu), I won't see sunlight this weekend.
Just got the 2nd version of the gift set (or maybe it's in Canada), mine did not come with the flash drive, it rather came with two comic books. Cant wait to check the movie out though!
"Amazon Prime delivered my regular BD copy today. Where's the review for this BD on bluray.com? "
they're reviewing more important titles like "The Moody Blues: Lovely to See You, Live" and of course "Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire: Live at the Greek Theatre" ........... lol
I rushed out to Best Buy yesterday to grab a copy only to find it won't play on my machine. What a crock. Tried all night to download the firmware upgrade but to no avail. Its sad that we have to constantly upgrade these things. Should just take the damn thing back and say screw it.
I would have liked to see this released using the AVC codec and LPCM or DTS Master HD Audio. I think that we can expect Warner to continue to sell HD DVDs copied to Bluray discs. I realize that many of you can't tell the difference or don't care but believe me AVC offers far better picture quality and far superior error recovery than VC 1 and Mpeg 2 which are exactly the same except for a some minor change Microsoft Made to make it there own. If you don't believe me compare Walt Disney releases to Warner’s if you have a top quality 1080p TV (LCD), and there's no competition. I myself will wait for Warner to start re-releasing there movies re-mastered in AVC. Remember when DVD came out some company's used the same master they used to make their VHS tapes for mastering DVDs; it wasn't long before you had to repurchase most of your favourite DVDs. I'm sure Batman will look better than the DVD but would have been better in AVC and LPCM or DTS Master HD.
I should be getting mine either today or tomorrow!
p.s. DON'T FORGET: also hitting blu-ray on July 8th: Girls Gone Wild: Sex in Sin City! anyway i should be gett in my Batman Begins today or tomorrow and also my Girls Gone WIld: Sex in Sin City!
"Bee Movie was never officially/legally released so I wouldn't count that. But if you're going by illegally, Blades of Glory would technically be the first. "
Bee movie was pressed but never officially released. Youre right about that. It was canceled at the last moment. Blades of Glory was the first, I didnt see that happen. So...this isnt the first "Today on Blu Ray" then?
Best Hero movie ever if you ask me! I get paid tomorrow and I'm picking this and Hellboy up on BD! Can't wait to watch both with some good friends and some good beer! Good times
