Indiana Jones Announced for Japan

Paramount Home Entertainment Japan has announced that they will bring 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' to Blu-ray by the end of this year, day-and-date with the DVD release. A few days ago, the US DVD release was announced with no mention of a US Blu-ray. While a Japanese Blu-ray release doesn't guarantee a US Blu-ray release (or a release anywhere else in the world), hopefully information will materialize soon.
No specific date or details about the release were given at this time.

Awesome.
I just rented the Raiders on DVD and let my 11 + 9 year old boys see it for the first time. Can't wait to see this one as I missed it in the theater. |

Information I got from Paramount is that Indiana Jones 4 will be released on Blu-Ray on October 23rd 2008 in Holland. |

Japan and North America are both region A, so worse case scenario... I'll have to pay a little more to import the Japanese Blu. I doubt all involved would allow the film to be released on BD in some parts of the world and restrict others. |

This movie by itself isn't good enough to own, as a companion to the first 3 FAR superior films, it's worth it (as many of you have already mentioned, in a boxed set) So like the rest of you, I'll wait. |

If Indiana IV makes it's way to blu-ray in the US, I don't think it'll be too long before the the first 3 find their way onto BD. |

When The Godfather was announced, I took that as a sign we weren't getting the Indiana Jones trilogy this year. I just don't see Paramount unloading 2 of their major, critically acclaimed franchises (i.e. Indy and The Godfather) within 2 months of each other. If Lucas & Spielberg had allowed an Indiana Jones 1-3 release, I'd be willing to bet Paramount would have held The Godfather off until next year. As it stands, we get The Godfather BECAUSE there will be no Indy Jones boxed set.
Now we have information leaking that only Indy 4 is coming to Blu this year. Do the math.
I hope I'm wrong... |

So at least it can be imported by those that want it bad enugh. Little tired of the Indiana Jones games (to be released in Blu-ray or not). |
