Warner Home Video has revealed that the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'The Shawshank Redemption' has been delayed from its November 4th release date by a month, and will now hit store shelves on December 2nd. Technical specs and special features have still yet to be announced, but we do know it will be a Digibook release featuring a BD-50.
no problem, the companies should take their time with the releases and not rush them. it's more important that they get them right. a digibook sounds great to me!
Shawshank Redemption Release Date consists of routine, and then more routine. Every so often, Andy would show up with fresh bruises. The Release Date kept at him. Sometimes he was able to fight 'em off, sometimes not. And that's how it went for Andy. That was his routine.
Once again my bet on these delays is there are so many BDs coming out so close together they cannot press them all, so some are going to have to be pushed back.
If this does not come in a regular BD case, I will not get it, I want uniformity, I know crazy, but its my collection and my money, I will spend it on what I want.
One of the must haves if done correctly, for me. Strange it's up for pre-order for UK earlier than this. I wish I knew if it will have the same specs, I'd just get it there.
Bogus. One of the best films EVER! Even when its parodied its great. Anyone thats got complains
about my complaints sorry but im just not into boring mindless crap. When good things are
announced i praise em. when crap is being discussed im going to give my opinion because you know
thats what the whole point of comments sections are for, you know opinions.
I seriously doubt the PQ is going to suck. The film has been given some great transfers on
DVD so it's hard to see this film falling below a 4 star at least for PQ.
It is coming out in the UK (my country) in the next couple of weeks but it is through a different distributor, ITV DVD.
ITV DVD do low key blu-ray releases such as Great Expectations, Bugsy Malone, Strictly Ballroom, Capricorn One, the Eagle Has Landed, etc..
To be honest I am really impressed by their output, but in the case of such a major, major release such as this, I was waiting for the US release. So yeah, this news sucks.
After reading the pres release on High Def Digest I have only one thing to say.... MY GOD!!! Warner using AVC/MPEG4 on a highly anticipated Blu-ray.... I thought this day would never come .
Here's hoping for AVC and DTS-HD on The Dark Knight!!!
Most definitely a result of a packed holiday season at the BD plants. New big releases will get priority while catalog titles will take a backseat. It isn't like they are taking the extra month to redo a transfer or tweak anything, it will just sit on a shelf until its turn.
Domo Arigato for the link 'digitalbabe'!
This one is on my BUY list, no matter when they eventually release it, especially with these specs and extras. Glad to see Warner finally doing things right, even if they are a day late!
Kapai!
