Please see the release calendar for releases from countries outside the US.
The biggest releases this week actually come for one of the smallest major studios. After a nasty divorce with Disney, Harvey and Bob Weinstein left the Miramax name behind and formed The Weinstein Company. While their film library may be small - they only retained the Dimension Films catalog - the list of new releases is ever growing, and today we see two of those titles being released for Blu-ray.
Both '1408' and 'The Mist' are great representations of what The Weinstein Company has to offer the Blu-ray community. Quality films that - while off major Hollywood's scope - contribute greatly to the overall diversity of films in the United States and abroad. Additionally, directors such as Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, and Kevin Smith have embraced the Weinsteins as their producers of choice, meaning that The Weinstein Company may be the only way to see films from these legendary filmmakers in the future.
Also out today is the 2003 release of Hulk' as well as the 25th Anniversary Edition of 'Risky Business'.
Next week, Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes. Nuff said.

Well, the Hulk and Risky Business are on their way and dispite wretched reviews, I think I'm going to pick up the Love Guru later. (I've just gotta know!!!)
No mention of "Speed Racer"?? I had no intentions of seeing the film when it first came out but eventually caught it on IMAX. Since then, I've been anticipating this release on BD since it's bright colors should really "pop" at 1080p.
I went to Best Buy to p/u hulk today, it was not on the shelf, so I asked an employee, he said it did not come out today, I said it did, he said I was wrong and shoed me their add, saying if it is not in the ad, then it did not come out. So I went over to Movie Stop, and there is was, just to much so I will get it on Amazon, or eBay.
Another example of quality over quantity. If they keep putting out movies like the mist and 1408/kill bill I'll definitely be a big fan for years to come. Also Kevin Smith puts out excellent material even if its not the most commecially successfull stuff out there. Best title mentioned easliy the mist I get my copy today from amazon I cant wait
This week is "TV" week for me. Have "Pushing Daisies", "Torchwood Season 1", and "Torchwood Season 2" (on DVD) on the way, just wish they would announce when Season 2 is coming out on Blu-ray already!
Another interesting thing is that my last 2 pre-orders with Amazon.com were 'free Super Saver' shipping, and both shipped out the Monday before they were to be "released", and both arrived on Thursday of that week (Amazon's estimate was for Friday in both cases). I paid for standard shipping on this one (testing to see if I got it a day earlier), and it shipped out on Monday (like the other 2) but it's delivery estimate is for Saturday this week, not Friday. Given that I am paying for shipping this time, I figured the estimate would have been Thursday, and I would have gotten it today (Wednesday)! The day is not over yet, and if I do get it today (not likely) I will post an edit/update to that effect, but I guess my question is this: anyone else have similar experiences with shipping on Amazon.com pre-orders?
I know this is not the forum (searched the forum and could not find a related thread, and still don't know how to start one) but this is related to this weeks releases, if anyone knows of a related thread in the forum, please post it here.
Thanks,
TBM
