When I watched Good Night and Good Luck in glorious Blu-ray B&W, I never imagined that a B&W movie could look so gorgeous. Here's hoping that this gem will look that good! |

All of that crammed onto a BD-25? I might have to sit this one out... |

I simply don't understand when people bitch about this coming on BD25. Most times people bitch because BD25's can lack features and extras. For a movie more than 50 years old this looks like a damn complete release to me... if they can save a few bucks by using a BD25 on old catalogs like this, as long as PQ and AQ are NOT sacrificed, why not? |

BD25 is enough.
This movie is short (92 min.) and its OAR is 4:3, meaning it takes up about half the space of a 16:9 movie.
Looking forward to this one for sure.
Correct me if Im wrong, but is this the first 4:3 BD? |

Beyond Classic.
Three of Jabba's skiff guards were named Klaatu Barada and Nikto respectively. |

I have to also say ALL THAT on a BD 25? We all care about picture and sound and as long as those are intact as best as they can be... then I don't mind ... but it still seems shady, I couldn't help but wonder.... but since it is 4:3 someone pointed out that it doesn't need as much space... so that is cool if that is true due to 16:9 enhancement not needed.
I would like to see more classic FOX films released! Like How to Marry a Millionare and How to Steal a Million! (sorry I must have money on my mind) |

And, of course (like Vincent Price/Charlton Heston/Will Smith versions of I Am Legend), the cover art just HAPPENS to resemble that of the Keanu film... |

Paul Naschy's Vengance of the Zombies was also a 4:3 ratio BD. |

25GB = 204,800Mb
Even at 35 Mbps that gives you just over 97 minutes of running time.
The average bit rate will be quite a bit less than that, hence there is likely no reason why Fox needed a BD50 disc for this release, given that with a 1.33:1 aspect ratio the average bit rate is likely not above 22~23 Mbps which gives the space for a 148 minute movie or, with a 92 minute movie, 9GB of free space for extras. |

I have to agree with KretzJ. Is there ever going to be a way to satisfy Blu-ray customers? No matter what the studios do, someone is here to complain. I understand that everyone wants "the best" but give 'm break at least once in a while. Do any of you really know that a BD-25 can't hold this movie and all of the extras and still look EXCELLENT? |

This will be awesome! I can't wait to get this classic movie in HD with uncompressed 5.1 sound.
The remake will not be able to live up to the original. |

That's an impressive amount of special features, but I hope that doesn't hurt the PQ/AQ. Fox has had a pretty good track record, so there should be no worries.
I've already got it pre-ordered, so I'm obviously excited over this release. |
