Iron Man Smashes Blu-ray Sales Records

Posted October 3, 2008 08:15 AM by Josh Dreuth

Paramount In an interview with Howard Stern yesterday, 'Iron Man' director Jon Favreau revealed that the Blu-ray release of his blockbuster hit has already broken sales records for the format. While final sales numbers won't be known until next Friday, its was widely expected that 'Iron Man' would be a huge success on the high definition format.

This title and Dark Knight should really move the format forward and give a big boost for 2009.

+1
As nice as that is for Iron Man, it will be forgotten in December when TDK comes out. But still, glad to see it selling so well. I REALLY liked this movie!

Iron Man had many BLu copies out there. I have mine. Dark knight is going to shatter records. I think BLu is going to do well this year.

Dark Knight will probably pass IronMan...However, it's a good deal for blu-ray. More people are adapting to the format which means even more releases. We already have the Godfather....it's only a matter of time before George Lucas gets the picture.

This isn't such a big surprise. There's no doubt that Iron Man, together with Indiana Jones-Crystal Skull and Dark Knight will be the top best sellers before the year is out.

Hopefully we'll soon receive an official tally from Paramount, given they were quick to announce sales numbers for that other format.

This good news. The more records shattered and more sales climb, Blu will get recognition the format should get.

That means it's already moved over 400,000 units if he's talking about total unit records.
