Fox Unleashes the Motherload for 2009

In an early announcement to retailers, Fox Home Entertainment has revealed that they will bring 11 of their best selling catalog titles to Blu-ray early next year. As these are unofficial announcements, technical specs and special features have yet to be confirmed, but we can very least assume these titles will receive the typical Fox AVC video and DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack treatment.
The barrage of titles kicks off on January 13th with 'Mirrors: Unrated' followed by 'The French Connection' a week later on January 20th. Skipping into February, Fox releases four comedy titles on February 3rd - 'Little Miss Sunshine', 'Napoleon Dynamite', 'Office Space: Special Edition With Flair!', and 'Sideways' - followed the next week on February 10th with 'Raging Bull' and 'Donnie Darko: Collector's Edition'.
The following week, on February 17th, Fox will release 'Passion of the Christ', followed on February 24th by 'The French Connection II' and 'Vanishing Point'.
Add these to the previous announce Q1 titles from Fox, and you see an extremely impressive line-up coming from the studio. Save up that holiday cash, you're going to need it early next year.
Edit: Looks like 'Ronin' on February 24th as well.

The Motherload!?! Sorry, these list some decent titles like the French Connection and Raging Bull (and maybe Passion Of the Christ for the sadists who like torture flicks), but a true Motherload would include Alien, Aliens, True Lies, The Abyss, and a couple of little films known as Star Wars! This is a nice start, however. Now let's see if they start pricing their releases sensibly and actually adding features worthy of the format to the catalog titles. |

Office Space: Special Edition With Flair!', haha, with flair....great comedy. 'Ragging Bull' hopefully is a typo and not a movie about a menstrual bovine. Not sure I'd call this a motherload, but the more titles released on blu, the better! |

@BobbyB
Stop beating a dead horse about Star Wars and Alien movies. Alien movies are penciled in for sometime 2009 from what has been posted in the forums. As far as Star Wars goes, its not up to FOX when they are released so STFU about it.
Back on topic. Great list of movies. I will be picking up most if not all of these. |

So... Before I jump the gun and sell my DVD copy back... They DO mean "Raging Bull," and there isn't some movie I've never heard of called "Ragging Bull" that they're releasing on the 10th of February, right? |

Hmmm...I'm oddly uninterested in any of these. :/
I dunno...maybe that is a good thing.
Three people who have been working in my department for 16 years were let go yesterday.
No one is safe here. I'm stockpiling money as we speak. |

Not really a " Motherload " but there are a about six decent titles. I can think of far better and far more titles than this that Fox has in their catalog though that would be much more worthy of Blu release. Napoleon Dynamite, Vanishing Point, Raging Bull, Passion of the Christ, Donnie Darko and Office Space are the ones that stand out. |

Does Donnie Darko Collector's edition mean that it will have the theatre release as well? I never liked the director's cut so i hope they release both |

I agree with Bobby - when I saw "motherload" my heart definitely did jump with the thought that they'd finally announced the Alien Quadrilogy.
No reason for people to be rude to him for his opinion.
We should realise though that some of Fox's biggest titles are already out, like Independance Day. |
