Today is Veteran's Day in the United States - a day to remember those who have sacrificed for the country by serving in its military. Today also marks the release of 'Band of Brothers' on Blu-ray, which is - in my humble opinion - the absolute best World War II movie or series ever created and Warner has produced an absolutely wonderful set for Blu-ray fans.
Tom Hanks has shown an absolute dedication to his work by creating historically accurate miniseries following theatrical blockbuster successes. First was 'From the Earth to the Moon' which followed his performance in 'Apollo 13'. For 'Band of Brothers', he joined with famed director Steven Spielberg to once again produce a stunning miniseries after starring in 'Saving Private Ryan'.
For those of you who already own the DVD set, which I expect many of you do, don't hesitate to upgrade. My set got delivered from Amazon today and it looks and sounds great. For those who have yet to watch the series, you will not be disappointed.
Universal Studios delivers 'Hellboy II' today, the sequel to the popular comic-book inspired film about a demon from hell that helps keep the supernatural in order. Its unique blend of comedy and action looks and sounds amazing on this stunning Blu-ray release. Once again, Universal delivers the goods.
The fan-favorite series 'Firefly' is released in its complete form by Fox, and Weinstein Company is releasing the made-for-TV movie '3: The Dale Earnhardt Story'.
And if you still haven't had your fill, their is always Oliver Stone's 'JFK' or the latest Star Wars film 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars'.

This is an international website so what about Remembrace Day in Canada? Remeber all the people who died in the war and be greatful that you don't have to go to war. In other words I think I might pick up Hellboy... missed it at the theater.
I was not able to attend the Rememberance Day services today in Ontario.
I wish it was a public holiday. Last time I went, which was on a Sunday, it's just very moving and inspiring.
Band of Brothers on Blu-ray....drool! Can't wait to watch this one again, a really incredible piece of work.
Chocolatejas, I too should have Hellboy II in my mailbox from Netflix--but alas it is Veteran's day, so there is no mail--looks like it won't be there until tomorrow.
I picked up the Police set at BestBuy and got my Hellboy II pre-order at MovieStop. Great day for America and I'm proud to have served. Thanks to our Canadian vets, too.
Supernatural Season 3 and Firefly was too rich for my blood. I dont want to pay $50+ for a series. I did pick up Chuck and Hellboy II. They should be here tomorrow from Amazon.
I picked up Band of Brothers today from Hastings. They had a special on it and I jumped on it on Veterans Day. I had only seen parts of this mini-series in the past (parts of different episodes), but I liked what I saw then. I watched the 1st episode tonight, "Currahee". Wow! I am hooked! What a great series. In Blu-ray it is just downright fantastic! Tomorrow night will be D-Day in my household (Part 2 of Band of Brothers - Day of Days).
JFK, Sukiyaki Western Django , HellBoy2 plus the DVD Planet sale made me pick up 'boarderline' items
like The Invasion (A/V over story) and Total Recall (Story over A/V) which looks and sounds better
than the reviews of this early disc.
I'm wondering how in the heck you get day one releases from Netflix?? When I had it I never got
new releases on my queue they just sent me anything on my list kinda randomly depending on
what they had in stock I guess.
