As a movie studio, Pixar has spent its entire existence exceeding the expectations of even the most critical moviegoer. By setting their quality bar at "perfection", they have constantly delivered some of the most memorable and enjoyable films ever created. Today's Blu-ray release of 'Wall-E' is no exception - with its unconventional voids of dialog and uncanny emotional appeal, Pixar has once again proven that they are not just in this business to entertain, but to push the limits of film making.
As a Blu-ray disc, the presentation is immaculate. Disney has switched from their typical use of PCM for soundtracks to using DTS-HD Master Audio, which allows them to include a 7.1 soundtrack that is identical to the master, while also providing additional special features. The video quality forces you to appreciate even more the amount of detail that went into creating the world that Pixar's characters live in. It is very obvious that not one pixel of the image went unscrutinized by the production team. Disney, once again, does not disappoint.
The other big release today is Paramount's 'Tropic Thunder' which blew up box offices across the country. As staff reviewer Martin Liebrman wrote in his review, "DreamWorks' presentation is fabulous, the disc featuring first-class audio and video quality and a long list of entertaining supplements to make this a can't-miss title that fans will appreciate for years to come." Does it get much better than that?
Anchor Bay has delivered a really nice release with 'Heathers', which also comes in a limited edition locker for those collector types. For a film that was made on a limited budget many years ago, the presentation is great. A definite must own for any fan of the film or anyone who just wants to check out why this film is still being talked about today.
A film which may unfortunately end up slipping under most people's radar today is the release of the Martin Lawrence film 'Blue Streak'. Many people will make references to 'Bad Boys' when talking about this film, and rightly so. Both are very entertaining action films were Lawrence's style of comedy really shines. The Blu-ray presentation is great, so there should be no hesitation on picking up this catalog title up.

I'll give you two guesses which of those films will be taking home Oscar gold this year.
Hint: Not Tropic Thunder.
Bought WALL·E today as soon as the store opened. Took it home, ripped it open, and had finished it before noon. Just going through the special features now, and they are fantastic.
This just leap-frogged every other movie in my Blu-ray collection, both for the genius of the movie and the quality of the presentation.

Got Wall*E & Tropic Thunder this morning. Video is amazing for Wall*E, especially when he is using the fire extinguisher to "dance" with EVE late in the movie. Had 6.1 DTS-HD MA on mine also. Nevertheless, it sounded great.
I can't wait for my 3 disc Blu Ray edition of Wall-E and Tropic Thunder in the mail from Amazon tomorrow. I'm giving Wall-E as a holiday present for my son so I will have to wait until then to watch it with the family. Oh well.
Disney/Pixar get an A+ for their Wall-E release, not only for unequaled video/audio quality of the release, but for including the 3 disc version in a case that contains spaces for all 3 discs and not sticking the digital copy dvd of Wall-E in an external paper/cardboard envelope as they did with the bonus Sleeping Beauty dvd that came with that release's Bluray.
