Yep, this Van Helsing and Riddick are the only things I was waiting for from Universal's catalog -- hopefully the others won't be far behind.

Not so much a final nail but a reminder that the war is really and truly over -- anyone remember what it was like a year ago at this time? How quickly we forget.

O... M.... F*ing... G!!!!!!

Finally,.. this is one of the few must haves that forced me to get a HD-DeaD player late last year (especially as the first one came with the player, so I HAD to get the other 2 then). These, "King Kong", the "Matrix Trilogy" (just ordered the Blu-ray set last week from DeepDiscount.com for $56.14 (great price, glad I waited)) and a few other HD-DUD excusives (Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, etc.) were the ONLY reason I got a Toshiba HD-A30 (along with my 80GB PS3 and Sony BDP-S500). Fortunately, the format war ended a few months later, so I was able to wait for the eventual Blu-ray releases of some other "Red-ray" exclusives I was debating getting early this year.

In any case, glad to see that Universal is finally steping up and putting out more classics on Blu-ray. I did take a look at the HD-DVD copies I have, and while most of these extras were on the "Red-ray" copies, there are some nice NEW additons here to, by themselves, justify the 'double-dip' for me. Especially if they re-do the video encode in MPEG4-AVC (the VC-1 encodes on the 30GB HD-DUDs was good, but could be better) and they release them in a single case (like the "Die Hard", "Godfather", and "Firefly" sets, as others have pointed out) OR in slim cases in cardboard 'sleeve case' (like the "Matirix" box set) then it would be a certain day 1 purchase for me. And while sound is important to me too; the DD+ encode on the HD-DVD discs sounded transparent enough to me (no AUDIBLE codec artifacts), I would of prefered a 7.1 ch remix as long as they were re-encoding the audio in DTS-HD MA, but the technical improvement is a welcome change (especially to the measurement geek in me)!!!

Now we just need the "Alien(s)" quadrilogy (Fox), both "Riddick" movies, and the "Star Wars" (Fox) and "Star Trek" (Paramount) movies to be announced and I'll be a happy camper!!! (As will others on this site, I'm sure.)

Universal does a good job of adding good uncompressed audio to it's latest blus. I'll bet universal will give bourne a bit rate higher than 16. I wish Warner respected all the movies it puts on blu. The bit rate of 16 for Batman Forever and the Potter films is disrespectful, and frankly insulting, to those great films. Interview with a Vampire didn't even get an uncompressed track from Warner.

It's about time. The bright side of all this is two-fold:

1. They are going to be released.
2. Uni is doing it so you can take the idea that they will be quality productions to the bank. Hopefully they haven't hired any WB people telling them to job it on the sound.

Uni consistently produces good discs. This should be no different.

Nice, DTS Master audio on all of them, my friend's hd-dvd's are Dolby Digital Plus except the third one. I am excited to see these, never have before except clips my friend showed me, but I am glad I waited for the lossless versions. I also had a chance right before the hd-dvd's came out to see them on dvd, passed it by, figuring Universal would release the blu's. From what I hear this is a great series, I am surprised I missed seeing them all.

Really good movies. When I first heard that Bourne was going to be played by Matt Damon I was really disappointed. He actually did alright and these 3 will be making it into my collection.

Really looking forward to these. The first movie in particular was excellent.

I'm just worried about how Universal will implement the U-Control features. The extras from The Thing and Casino (and probably others) are completely ruined because key features are forced as PiP and sliced up into segements while you watch the film. If I want to watch the film, I'll watch the film; when I want to watch the extras, PLEASE Universal, let me watch them full screen and uninterrupted!!!

When they say "boxed set", I wonder if they mean one of those cheap, flimsy fall-apart in a year,
glued boxes like the James Bond series. I sent mine back and bought the individual discs in the
Blu-Ray cases. Anyone know about the packaging?
