The Weinstein Company has officially announced the Blu-ray release of Kevin Smith's 'Clerks II', which is due to hit store shelves on February 3rd. Originally scheduled for a February 10th release, this two disc set will feature all the extras from the previous HD DVD release. No technical specs have been announced at this time.
^ While I didn't think this movie was necessarily bad, I would love to have Clerks (or Clerks X, rather) much more. This didn't have much replay value for me. Zak & Miri, on the other hand, shows us that Smith has plenty more funny left in him!
I LOVED THIS MOVIE!! When I saw this in the theater, I was one of only 5 people.
I laughed at points in this movie that the other moviegoers didn't. Definite buy!
I'll pick this up because I am a huge fan of Kevin Smith's Askewniverse. But, I'm not expecting great things from this release.
I have the HD-DVD version, and I wasn't that impressed by it. I already had the DVD, and while there was some difference, it wasn't huge. And before people go making comments about it being because of the HD-DVD format, I have seen other HD-DVDs that looked very good. So, I really think it's the film, itself, and not anything to do with it being a bad 'port'.
Granted, since I plan on getting this anyway, I would love to be proven wrong and have the transfer be well beyond my expectations, but I'm not holding my breath on it.
Im a massive fan of kevin smith but i'll just stick to the DVd for this i think..i've heard there isnt a great upgrade in quality anyway and my panasonic upscales the dvd quite nicely. Smiths fims by his own admission arent the best HD material going. Smith funnily enough isnt a huge blu ray fan..lol remeber when he said f*** dvd back in the day ! think he thinks the same of BD now!
I dont think clerks 1 would be a blu ray purchase either,..the film is very very cheaply shot and i wouldnt think it would look even a little better on blu ray.
SWEET!!!!!!!!!!! Already had this one planed for the 10th, but now, I get to buy it a whole week earlier!!!!
Now lets just hope that best buy actually sells it.. I noticed that they have a habit of either not selling Kevin smiths blu-rays, or they only buy a very small quantity, and then once they are gone, they tend not to restock them (hod this problem with Dogma, which they didn't even carry at all in the store on release day, and Jay and bob, which I had to get from Circuit City cause best buy never restocked them)
WOOT! no-brainer for me. I got it on my PVR (HD version) and looks pretty good already. Anyway I won't be able to see details anyway since I will be laughing so hard and keep falling off the couch with lots of tears in my eyes!
Can't wait for this! (love the part about the trolls )
I doubt a Clerks 1 and 2 Boxed Set would ever be possible. Clerks 1 is owned by Disney, Clerks 2 is the Weinstein Company/MGM.
The film was shot on 35mm but created from a 2k Digital Intermediary, so, althought it was made in higher resolution than BluRay can show, it's not gonna look like the IMAX scenes of Dark Knight
