Blu-ray Sales Up 400% in UK

The British Video Association (BVA) has revealed that 1.5 Million Blu-ray titles were sold during the month of December, representing a nearly 400% increase over the same period last year, despite the tough economic environment. The top Blu-ray seller, not surprisingly, was Warner's 'The Dark Knight' which sold 281,000 units during the month.

A year a go it was really quite hard to buy Blu-rays in the high street shops, only decent section (and prices) were on-line. Finally starting to see decent ones available in the larger supermarkets, this is where it will now really start to pick up. |

I transfered most of my BD purchase to the UK last few months. GBP is on the lowest level ratio to my currency, 35% loss in the last half of 2008. So, not all effects of the crisis are bad:) |

Not hard to believe. This news ties in well with the fact that my Blu-ray collection grew by about 200% over the festive period :-) |
