Lionsgate Home Entertainment has revealed in the latest issue of Home Media Magazine that they will bring the Frank Miller's 'The Spirit' to Blu-ray on April 14th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Technical specs have yet to be announced, but you can expect to see AVC video accompanied by a DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.
Special features have not been announced at this time.
I guess you haven't read any of the many, many negative reviews all over the internet for this movie yet? I have no desire to waste that portion of my life on a movie so many people have already dissed.
This movie was mediocre at best. I saw it in the theaters (which is rare for me) because I was expecting something like Sin City, which I LOVED. I was sorely disappointed in it. My advice would be to rent it first if you're interested.
If this ends up with an immaculate transfer and HD audio, it could be reference-demo-worthy material. I have not seen the movie, the trailer video looked amazing, but almost everyone is in agreement that it was terrible, both critics and movie-goers alike. The MetaCritic rating is probably one of the lowest of any movie released this year (30/100 ouch!). I dont get it how could Frank Miller go wrong after 300 and Sin City...its a shame. Needless to say, if the movie is truly reference quality on Bluray I will buy it when it hit the bargain bin or a BOGO sale.
Saw this in the theater. The only good thing about this movie was the visual effects. Sadly it was absolutely terrible. All i have to say is "but on the inside she was warm and soft"....i busted out laughing when he said that while floating across the city top.
this probably ranks as one of the worst films i have ever seen, i was bitterly disappointed expecting something along the lines of sin city.i was not the only one, about 15 people walked out of the cinema including my partner! i stayed thinking it couldnt get any worse but it stayed bad! if you really need to buy this i suggest you wait as it will be quickly reduced or people selling it after suffering at home with it, not even blu ray making it look or sound any better can save this! avoid!
Saw this at the movies and thought it was horrible i like the other frank miller films but even sam couldnt make this one good and i love me some sam jackson the only good thing in this movie is eva naked thats about it rest of the movie blows max payne was better and that movie was close to garbage as well.
looked alright, ill probably rent it first. i think this came out about the same time gran torino did. im hoping the date for that one is announced soon.
I liked it. Heard all the negative complaints and realized in the end it was because people wanted another SIN CITY. It's a totally different era/style of comic. Not a great film, but certainly worth seeing. Eva Mendes is also naked in this one (bare butt looks glorious) and should make it worth a rental at least. The images are also beautiful.
I'm a huge Frank Miller fan but this one looked horrible. I'm not even sure if I'll rent it. I might wait until it goes in the older releases section...
