Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves Announced for Blu-ray

Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves' to Blu-ray on May 26th in its extended cut form. This Kevin Costner film will come on a BD-50, and feature 1.85:1 1080p VC-1 video. The audio specs have not been fully detailed at this time, though we are expecting to see a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack available for this release.

Awesome! I've wanted this ever since Disney started using the music from this movie for their blu-ray promos. I always complained that they cannot use music from a movie that's not on Blu-ray yet (even though it's from another studio).
First day buy for me. |

Excited yet worried. Have you guys seen the DVD transfer of this film...it is AWFUL, full of dirt, scratches, and dusty. It looks like my neighbors kid was keeping it looked up for Warner in his SANDBOX. However if they have found a quality print to use for the film I will buy it day one. Here is hoping they spent some time cleaning this quality film up. |

Am I the only person who absolutely HATED the extended cut of this movie? I think that all of that added material really subtracted from the film. It cheapened a lot of what I thought made Rickman's Sheriff so great. The pacing was thrown way off, and it just didn't feel like the same film. I've been hoping that they would release the original version on blu-ray, but it looks like that is a pipe dream. |
