Video Business has posted a nice article on how studios will begin catering to the feminine side of the HD format war this winter as Blu-ray moves in the early mass phase. Paramount will release 'Flashdance' for Blu-ray on September 18th. Warner is planning to release the Harry Potter and Oceans films this fall on Blu-ray in sync with the video releases of 'Oceans 13' and 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'.
In addition, Warner Brothers is planning to bring the made-for-TV movies 'The Rest Stop' and 'Sublime' to Blu-ray sometime early next year. As usual, there are no specs at this time, but expect more to be revealed as we get closer to the release date.
This is excellent news from Warner and I hope they keep this up along with the quality of products they will output. Now we got to wait for Batman Begins, Matrix trilogy, & V for Vendetta.
Harry Potter is the sort of release that I've been waiting for! Narnia will be great and Pirates has been terrific, but aside from SW or LOTR, HP is the commitment that we've all been waiting for. Let's just hope that this example is recognized by the studios and the goods keep rolling in!!! "Front of the line" is all I can say on these!
