Watchmen Director's Cut Blu-ray Gets Detailed

Warner Home Video has announced the technical specs and special features for
the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Watchmen: Director's Cut', which
is due to hit store shelves on July 21, day-and-date with the DVD release. Video
will be presented in 1080p VC-1 accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD
soundtrack.
The only version of the movie on this Blu-ray edition will be the director's cut,
which is 3
hours and 10 minutes long, according to statements by director Zack Snyder.
However, a standard-definition digital copy of the theatrical cut will also be
included.
Extras are as follows:
- Maximum Movie Mode (BD exclusive)
- Watchmen: Focus Points
- The Phenomenon: The Comic that Changed Comics (30')
- Real Super Heroes, Real Vigilantes (BD exclusive) (27')
- Mechanics: Technologies of a Fantastic World (BD exclusive) (27')
- Music Video: Desolation Row (My Chemical Romance)
- Digital Copy (theatrical version)
- BD-Live
The Maximum Movie Mode will allow split-screen viewing of "Watchmen" to
focus on elements in director Zack Snyder's on-camera commentary.
As we already reported yesterday, it will be possible to sync up the BD-Live
functionality on this title with friend networks on Facebook.

There will only be the Director's Cut on the blu-ray ? even not the theatrical one ? :s
It's nice we have the Director's Cut, but i don't understand why they didn't put the theatrical with it too on the blu-ray ... |

Not many extras...no Theatrical...Still a day one (unless comic con is doing a spical like they did for 300, where it was avable to buy a few days earlyer) pick up for me. None the less looks like a great realese. But I agree with graney (Drobswim13):) that the WB should do all three with the Absolute edition of WATCHMEN.

Theatrical Cut, Directors Cut, (rumored) Final Cut? I guess this means in a couple of years we are going to get a Blade Runner style box set of all the films and a work print and disc dedicated to just special features. All in a box shaped like a big blue... oh... never mind. |

I've not seen the film yet but was looking forward to both the theatrical and director's cuts.
I admit i'm a bit baffled why Warner isn't allow access to both versions?
This lets me know why I so like Universal's almost unified offering of both versions of their films on BD.
Given the lack of choice on this and Amadeus is more than a bit disappointing. |
