Watchmen Arriving Also As Movie/PS3 Game Combo

Posted May 21, 2009 02:19 PM by Juan Calonge

Warner Bros. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that its upcoming PS3 game 'Watchmen: The End is Nigh', based on the 'Watchmen' film, will be released in July 2009 in a game/film hybrid that will include the 'Watchmen: Director's Cut' BD. This two-disc collectible set will feature exclusive artwork in a premium package.

The game will also be released in the more traditional retail and downloadable formats.

'Watchmen: The End is Nigh' is a hardcore mature action brawler featuring bloody visceral combat in settings which are reminiscent of the film. It is divided in two parts. Part 1 (released in March 2009 on the PlayStation Network) takes place more than a decade before the film's main story, delving into the partnership of urban vigilantes Rorschach and Nite Owl before the hero-banning Keene Act. In Part 2, the duo team up again as Rorschach contacts Nite Owl to help solve the case of a missing girl, Violet Greene.

Interesting concept....but wasn't Sony supposed to be doing this game/movie combo idea?

Nice! I only dread the thought of the inevitable "super deluxe ultimate edition" that contains the black freighter and other additional content.

I really liked the movie, so I guess I'll buy this :/

I've played the demo, the game sucks so bad. Really, it's horrible. And to think they're making a part 2... Shame, because this is a great idea.

I've also heard the game isn't very good, no matter, I just want the director's cut movie anyway!

The game is a fun beat-em-up in the style of Final Fight and Streets of Rage. It's not God of War or Heavenly Sword caliber by any means, but it's fun nonetheless.

I too played the demo and wasn't impressed. I loved the movie though so this is still a day one purchase for me.

I played the demo. It looks pretty and the gameplay isn't bad, but it's ultimately just a brawler and VERY repetative. Even in the demo you go to the same area repopulated with different characters multiple times. Go to the Playstation forums to read others' take on it. It's all pretty negative though.

The only way to sell the Latter is to pair it with the first... sad =( ill buy the movie.... too bad this will probably push the game to being the number one sold game on disc (cause everyone will buy the movie)

It all comes down to the price of the combo.

I've played it, my brother bought the first chapter on X-Box Live. It's a nice game, but you get bored easily. I'll buy it, though, because I'm such a geek when it comes to special editions and stuff like that. Exclusive artwork and premium packages, I like that kind of things.

Well I for one, will not pay $60 for a so-so game just so I can get the $20 BD movie. Is the demo of this game already out? Sounds like it got soem mixed reviews...

EDIT: hold on a sec...this is a PSN game? I thought a End is Nigh was on disc and on multiplatforms, I did not know it was a PSN exclusive, this leads me to think that Graphics will be just ok...

DAMNSAM77: Where does it say it will be $60? And if you just want the BD, then just buy the BD without the game! Also, it's not a PSN exclusive, it's also available on XBox Live.

davidthenikonuser: Did you even read the article? "This two-disc collectible set". It's not a hybrid!

Already played this. Its fun time waster, not the greatest game ever. Basically if you took Double Dragon and replaced the two protagonists with Night Owl and Rorschach you get 'Watchmen: The End is Nigh'.
