Five Free Blu-ray Movies with Purchase of Player

Posted June 26, 2007 08:17 PM by Josh Dreuth

Blu-ray Disc The Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) has revealed an exciting offer for those of you who are still looking to pick up a Blu-ray player. If you purchase a Blu-ray player (including the PS3) between July 1st and September 30th, you will automatically qualify to receive 5 Blu-ray movies absolutely free. Combine this with existing offers (like the 5 free Blu-ray movies with purchase of a Panasonic DMP-BD10A), and you could receive up to 10 free Blu-ray movies with the purchase of a player. But wait, there's more! If you decide you would like to purchase a PS3, Sony is offering a special deal through their retail Sony Style stores. Purchase a PS3, two games, and an extra controller from now until July 8th, and you will receive a $50 gift card. Rebate information can be found at the following site: www.bluraysavings.com The site isn't up yet, but expect it to go live when the deal starts this weekend.

Limited selection of movies to choose but it's cool that they're accepting the PS3 as an eligible player.

"Watch your words" my @ss. Who gives a sh!t!? BD is winning regardless of this promo or not. Doesn't matter either if HD DVD started it as well, we all know that the outcome of this war is that BD will be the winner.

I just got my PS3 last week on the 26th, I'm really hoping they have a week or 2 grace period. Otherwise, I will have to return my ps3 and buy it again. BTW, do you think the movies being given out are good.

Honestly when I first heard about this I planned on returning my PS3 to get the movies. But if they want better participation, offer better movies. Three of the movies I want, I can only choose one of... Most of the movies are either lame movies that they shouldn't have wasted their time and money on. There are a few good ones, but not worth the hassle of returning my PS3 for. As for new buyers, WTH go for it.... Nice try BDA, but if you want attention offer better movies. If I were debating on getting a Blu-Ray player, this offer would have made no difference on my decision...

Just found out today that the ps3 is getting a $100 price drop on the 12th. So went and returned my ps3 today, hopefully this rumor will turn out true, in any case will be able to get 5 free movies when I buy it again. Check out the link below

Well I guess that settles that issue. Now $100 plus 5 free Blu-Ray Movies IS worth returning the PS3 for. I've read on several other sites about this RUMOR also. We shall see if it is real. Like some have mentioned it would be dumb for Sony not to follow through with this after all the reliability publicity the Xbox has been getting.

Until this promotion, I was undecided about whether I was going to go with Blu-Ray or HD DVD. Well, with this offer, along with a $500 Sony Blu-Ray player - I just decided. It's blu-ray for me! Good move you guys! The only thing that would make it even better is if I could choose any 5 blu-ray movies instead of just from the limited selection. Oh well, I'm pretty happy with this deal. Thanks!

Does anyone know of a deal like this in Australia? I just bought a PS3 and it would be fantastic if I could get some free bluray movies!!

wow. those movies are terrible! that NEARLY convinced me to buy a PS3 (in combination with the $100 price drop) until I saw the movies you could choose from. I couldn't even pick 5 out of that lot that I would ever have considered buying in high def! If you were on the fence but chose Blue Ray based on those, that is really sad. Blue ray does have better movies than HD DVD but that is a sad lineup to chose from, right there. Guess I'll keep waiting for Blue Ray to get cheaper.
