Optimum Home Entertainment has added nearly forty catalog titles to its Blu-ray schedule, for release between July and September 2009. Titles run the gamut of genres, from Hong
Kong martial arts to European arthouse classics, and more Luc Besson than you can shake a stick at. No information on region coding is available, but Optimum often locks its titles to
region B.
Here is the schedule of catalog releases from Optimum for July-September.
Fantastic news! I can only recommend that you all buy a region free player, something we Europeans since the dawn of the DVD had to get used to. Nobody would want to miss out on Criterion releases for example, nor the upcoming slate from Optimum!
Wow, this is an impressive slate. But given the sheer volume, I'll wait to see the PQ/AQ reviews before I buy anything. They may just be churning out product; or can someone vouch for this label?
I can vouch for this label. I have several blu rays by them and each one is of pretty high standard. These include Donkey Punch, All The Boys Love Mandy Lane and especially Eden Lake. Great transfer!
Might pick up the elephant man and Leon..the rest doesnt interest me much. Optimum have a chequered past with some of their titles..especially escape from new york ! so i'll read reviews before i rush out to by any.
This is a FANTASTIC list, marvellous! And I hear that Optimum offers pretty decent quality in the transfer department. Many, many titles for me to get...
Love the fact the Bessons are coming out on the 15th Anniversary of the cinema release of Leon. What a great list overall! Yet to get a dud from them, either on DVD or Blu, even if in the past they weren't always able to afford good extras for DVDs - these days, they're absolutely one of my faves.
And that has nothing to do with the lovely ladies who staff their marketing & PR... :-)
Oh, and second the Criterion comment - all you Region A'ers complaining about locking - that's how we feel about Criterion! I'd much rather their Chungking than Artificial Eye's UK edition....
Some fantastic titles there... wife will kill me if I get another player [region free or otherwise]... what a dilemna. [And she just left for two weeks...]
Some of the finest movies of the last twenty or thirty years! I'm a huge fan of thehow Blu is treating Black & White after viewing "Raging Bull" & "Day The Earth Stood Still" I can only imagine how beautiful "The Elephant Man" & "La Heine" will look!
I'm gonna need to win the Lottery just to buy Blu-rays!
Ordered all the September 28th/book case & booklet titles, except Deer Hunter. Also Elephant, Switchblade Romance, & Pianist of the July 20th/€12 titles. Oh yeah & Highlander, we get it on Friday in Ireland. Keep up the good work Optimum.
