Our good friends over at The Digital Bits have posted on their "Rumor Mill"
section a peek at some of the catalog titles from Paramount and
Dreamworks that will probably be released on Blu-ray during September
and into the fourth quarter of the year. The list includes the highly
anticipated best-picture Oscar winners 'Braveheart','Gladiator'and 'Forrest Gump'.
Additionally, the 'Star Trek: The
Next Generation - Original Motion Picture
Collection' will be released on a date still pending, to coincide with the
home video release of J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek'. It will include
'Generations',
'First Contact', 'Insurrection' and 'Nemesis'. Also, the Star Trek movies
already released as part of a set will be rereleased separately.
Note, however, that all of the above must be considered unofficial until
there is an announcement by the studios.
Forrest Gump, Gladiator and Deep Impact are 1st streetday buy for me. Hoping for lossless sound for Forrest Gump and Gladiator! Can't wait to hear the Vietnam War scenes!
Awesome news to have all that Star Trek again this fall. I'm having a blast with the original six movies and S1 of ToS, so adding ToS S2, TNG movies, and Abrams' Star Trek is going to rejuvenate it all over again. Gladiator, Forrest Gump, good god that's a lot of good films.
Forest Gump and It's A Wonderful Life -- first day buys, Braveheart, Gladiator, and Galaxy Quest -- wait for a good sale prior to purchasing
Great news on some favorite classics coming to BD!
generations, first contact and nemesis for me.Looking forward to generations the most i bet that scene on the boat at the start looks amazing as it looked pretty good in SD.Of course the new star trek too will be great
Woo hoo!!!! At last, Braveheart & Gladiator on BD - it's about time. I just hope that the studios do justice to the transfer and made both movies look and sound as good as they possibly can. Roll on September.
Funny how Escape from LA will make it to blu before NY. Perhaps if we are lucky it will be the once mentioned Director's Cut. With all the Trek stuff coming our way I wonder when we will see season sets of Next Gen on Blu......................
I was under the impression that the date for Braveheart was official... I'll be getting Gladiator, Star Trek Season 2, the new Star Trek film and my wife will be picking up It's A Wonderful Life. But now, I gotta ask; where's Apocalypse Now in all this? It's the film's 30th anniversary this year. I'm aching to have it on Blu!!
Been waiting for the Star Trek TNG movies to come out. I grew up with these movies and they are my favorite Star Trek movies. I will be buying the first day they come out. I also Like Gladiator. Will buy that too.
I hope Escape from La is a full blown special edition..its one of the only Carpernter/Russell movies that was never given a commentary from the two
It would also be nice if they allowed him to make a director's cut...maybe it'll finally get him in the mood to do a third escape movie
Also, kinda pissed about the Star trek movies being sold seperatly, if the next gen movies are also that way, i might have to sell my current star trek 1-6 set and get the individuals so all 10 movies match up on the shelf
Finally, I've been wondering when the second season of Star Trek: TOS would be hitting Blu! And Forrest Gump, It's A Wonderful Life, and Gladiator before the end of the year too? Very nice.
Must Buys for me:
'Braveheart'
'Gladiator: Extended Edition'
'Galaxy Quest'
'Forrest Gump' (which releases on my birthday and yesterday I had a very successful interview to work at Bubba Gump Shrimp!!! LOL!)
'Star Trek: The Next Generation- Motion Picture Collection'
'Star Trek (2009)'
It's a Wonderful Life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES it is about time!...and a few others on the list.
In order of interest:
It's a Wonderful Life
Star Trek
Forrest Gump
Gladiator
Galaxy Quest
Star Trek: The Original Series - Season 2
Star Trek: The Next Generation - Motion Picture Collection (Wish I could just get First Contact)
Braveheart
Just wondering a few things. Why is the Abrams Star Trek and Star Trek TNG Films set for November, when Galaxy Quest and the second season of TOS are set for September. Would it not make perfect sense for those to all be day and date? And a late September date seems likely for a movie that opened in early May.
And that title for the TNG Boxset seems wrong- "Star Trek: The Next Generation- Original Motion Picture Collection", shouldn't it simply be "Star Trek: The Next Generation Motion Picture Collection".
There are some good titles up there~The one that jumps out at me the most is Forrest Gump! That's right, my name's Forrest Forrest Gump, My Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get! Day 1 pick up on most of those titles for me~Especially Forrest Gump!
I guess I'll just have to pray to the retail gods that these are heavily discounted on Black Friday! The holidays always mean spending tons of my $ on home entertainment for myself along with presents for others.
Gladiator, Braveheart, It's a Wonderful Life, and Forrest Gump for sure. I love Galaxy Quest, but don't know if I need the Hi Def upgrade. If they sweeten it with new extras... then I'll probably give in.
Does anyone know if Paramount is rumored to be releasing a complete Star Trek movie anthology (original, next gen, and prequel)?
