Paramount Late 2009 Rumored Blu-ray Slate

Posted June 5, 2009 04:18 AM by Juan Calonge

Paramount Our good friends over at The Digital Bits have posted on their "Rumor Mill" section a peek at some of the catalog titles from Paramount and Dreamworks that will probably be released on Blu-ray during September and into the fourth quarter of the year. The list includes the highly anticipated best-picture Oscar winners 'Braveheart','Gladiator'and 'Forrest Gump'.

The Blu-ray slate includes:

September 1: 'Braveheart'
September 15: 'Deep Impact', 'Escape from L.A.', '48 Hours'
September 22: 'Star Trek: The Original Series - Season 2', 'Gladiator: Extended Edition', 'Galaxy Quest'
November 3: 'Forrest Gump', 'It's a Wonderful Life'

Additionally, the 'Star Trek: The Next Generation - Original Motion Picture Collection' will be released on a date still pending, to coincide with the home video release of J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek'. It will include 'Generations', 'First Contact', 'Insurrection' and 'Nemesis'. Also, the Star Trek movies already released as part of a set will be rereleased separately.

Note, however, that all of the above must be considered unofficial until there is an announcement by the studios.

Awesome news to have all that Star Trek again this fall. I'm having a blast with the original six movies and S1 of ToS, so adding ToS S2, TNG movies, and Abrams' Star Trek is going to rejuvenate it all over again. Gladiator, Forrest Gump, good god that's a lot of good films.

9/22 sounds like a date for the Star Trek movies since the TV series has that date. Otherwise, why release those on different dates?

Woo hoo!!!! At last, Braveheart & Gladiator on BD - it's about time. I just hope that the studios do justice to the transfer and made both movies look and sound as good as they possibly can. Roll on September.

Funny how Escape from LA will make it to blu before NY. Perhaps if we are lucky it will be the once mentioned Director's Cut. With all the Trek stuff coming our way I wonder when we will see season sets of Next Gen on Blu......................

It's a Wonderful Life!!! Yes!!!

Also in for a couple BP winners: Gump and Gladiator: EE. But Gladiator needs to carry over all the content from the 3-disc DVD or BD owners lose out.

Forest Gump soundtrack alone will get me to buy it. All The Treks with Gladiator. That completes day one.......

I was under the impression that the date for Braveheart was official... I'll be getting Gladiator, Star Trek Season 2, the new Star Trek film and my wife will be picking up It's A Wonderful Life. But now, I gotta ask; where's Apocalypse Now in all this? It's the film's 30th anniversary this year. I'm aching to have it on Blu!!
