Sharp Electronics has announced that they will release their first Blu-ray player, the BD-HP20S, this fall. No price has been set, but we do know some hardware specs. The player will output 1080p at 24fps (and 60fps) and supports Dolby TrueHD. Additionally, the player will come equipped with HDMI v1.3 as well as 5.1 analog outs.
An interesting feature is a Quick Start option which will have the disc playing in a matter of seconds, very similar to the start-up times consumers are accustomed to with today's DVD players. The player will be totally in-house, so don't expect another clone. This is a totally new player from a long time Blu-ray supporter.
This is great, another one for Blu Ray. I know the Aquos line of LCD's is reputable, so it will be interesting to see what they can do with a player. The Quick Start is a nice touch.
