Michael Jackson's Final Rehearsal Rumored for Blu-ray

Posted June 29, 2009 10:54 AM by Juan Calonge

Blu-ray Movies When Michael Jackson died last week, he was rehearsing for a final series of live concerts in London. Those gigs will obviously never happen, but Jackson's last rehearsal, recorded in multi-camera, high-definition video, could be released on Blu-ray, according to concert promoters cited by the British newspaper The Independent.

The recordings were part of the deal between Jackson and concert promotion company AEG Live, which included a plan to produce a CD, DVD and Blu-ray of what Jackson had billed his "final performance" tour, titled This Is It.

One AEG official is reported to have boasted to a colleague: "We have a live album in the can." The rehearsal, which went on for several hours, included dancers, musicians and aerial performers.

Patrick Woodroffe, lighting designer, watched the final rehearsal. He said: "We had rehearsed for the last couple weeks. We put together a complicated show, quite a spectacular show. Of course a huge part of it was him, and I would say for the last week he hadn't really been with us. He would appear, and he would rehearse sometimes, and he would not rehearse."

Randy Phillips, president of AEG Live, has refused to comment for the story.

Anything Michael Jackson would be welcome on Blu-ray. Especially his music videos and short films.

I may be in the minority but not sure I want to see a frail and sick looking Michael in his final days

PS The guy is still in the morgue and these sleezy promoters are already trying to make a quick buck.

Classy!

Alot of the online retailers are advertising his music with homepage banners. They'll say its a tribute but we all know its them making money out of someone dying.

If AEG Live is smart, they will release this only after Jackson's family can give Michael a proper buriel and not allow this company to exploit his passing by putting this out there for the sake of money. Obviously this would be a hugh money maker. Paying tribute to his music and that legacy would be a welcomed addition to his disc-orgaphy. Something his fans can endure for years to come. I'm sure the inevitable movie on his life story is pounding in some writers head and Hollywood will make a definitive movie about his life as well as a host of tribute albums making the rounds in a few years.

I wonder what the insurance output is on this tour? It must be in the tens of millions, assuming they actually pay. Otherwise these guys have lost a TON of money. I mean they have no matter what because of the anscillaries so I can totally understand them wanting this out as quick as possible to try and offset that loss. But who really cares what the motivation behind it is? We all want it regardless. Let's just hope there is enough Michael in it.

I agree with Guydowood that a defintitive movie about his life will come out, but since he was practically white in his final years, an African American actor can't play him. So who would be a good choice to play him in that part of his lfe? Johnny Depp might be a logical choice.

There's this thing called makeup. It comes in handy when making feature films.

This would be great for any fan. I know I'd give anything to see one last performance of Dimebag Darrell.

Fans rarely get this kind of "just one more" closure when artists die.

It's really pathetic how the world is trying to benefit financially from his death, and the man is not even buried yet. It just makes me sick to my stomach. I don't watch the news media coverage anymore because they have gone to the extreme with this.

Looking at the title of this news, I didn't know if it would be a good idea. But if the "rehearsal" is the full show front to back, then it could be something cool to watch.
