Delta Farce and Troy: DC for Blu-ray

Posted July 6, 2007 11:19 AM by Josh Dreuth

Blu-ray Movies Lionsgate Home Entertainment has revealed that they are bringing the Larry the Cable Guy military comedy 'Delta Farce' to Blu-ray on September 4th. A surprise move by Warner Brothers was also revealed, as they will be releasing 'Troy: Director's Cut' for Blu-ray on September 18th. This is a surprise because the theatrical version of Troy already exists on HD DVD. Additionally, the dates for a few other upcoming titles were re-confirmed. As reported earlier: Remember the Titans on September 4th, Face/Off on September 11th, and The Condemned on September 18th. Look for specs to follow soon for all titles, if not already announced.

Hey Josh, regarding 'Troy'... what do you mean by "double-dip"? I can't wait to see this movie on Blu-ray, so i'm very excited to see a Warner title after the initial HD-DVD release.
WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!

I'm assuming that "Troy: Director's Cut," will be released on HD DVD, as well. That's how it would be a "double dip," meaning that the same movie is being re-released. But, isn't The Fifth Element a double dip, or does it not count since you can trade in the old version?

I think he means "double dip" on HD-DVD meaning putting out two verison of the same movie to get customers to buy again.

I thought that line might cause confusion, but I left it in anyway. I've just edited it out, though. This is the first title where an HD owner will have to buy the same title twice. This title already exists on HD DVD in its theatrical form, and those who want the movie as a Director's Cut will have to purchase the title again (if they own HD DVD). No other title has done that yet, though The Fifth Element was close before Sony announced the exchange program.

This will not be a true hd title will it? It is warner that is doing the true hd, isn't it? Can't wait to see Troy in HD! A definite buy for me, that's if it's not that combo junk with hd-dvd.

So WB is releasing Troy finaly on blu-ray. WB give us Batman Begins Directors Cut on blu-ray. If there is a directors cut. That would be a Killer Joke...

We are finally starting to get some of those early HD-DUD release from WB but improved (Directors cut). I can't wait for Troy to be released, finally WB is picking up the pace for BD. I hope they do an optimized version for Blu-Ray.
