Entertainment in Video Announces Blu-ray Support

Posted July 19, 2007 08:19 AM by Josh Dreuth

Blu-ray Movies Entertainment in Video (UK) has announced that they will be releasing their first wave of Blu-ray titles on August 13th. Their first seven releases feature three titles already on Blu-ray in the US ('The Departed', 'Phantom of the Opera', and 'Million Dollar Baby'), two HD DVD exclusive titles in the US ('Brokeback Mountain' and 'Lucky Number Slevin') and two titles eagerly awaited for by Blu-ray fans ('Gangs of New York' and 'The Crow'). No specs have been given at this time, but expect a 1080p transfer. Word is that these titles will all be coded Region B, so US fans will have to wait a little while longer. Source now indicates these titles will all be encoded as Region B. I have updated the article to reflect this new information.

So these Entertainment in Video (UK) releases like Lucky Number Slevin (which is currently exclusive to HD DVD in the US) that are coming out next month in th UK encoded as Region B, will eventually hit the US in Region A format? You sure this goes for Lucky Number Slevin as well, which, again, is exclusive to HD DVD here in the US? Can you tell I'm interested in owning Lucky Number Slevin on Blu-ray?

We should be getting Bruce Almighty as well. Which is a Universal title in the US. I am wondering what other Universal titles we in the UK will get now

"Amazon also list Brokeback Mountain as all region??????????????????????????"

It does. Are these UK "all region" releases truly all region? Can anyone confirm that a UK release has played on a US (aka Region A) player?
