In an early announcement to retailers, it has been revealed that First Look Studios is set to release 'Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans' on Blu-ray on February 23, 2010. This Werner Herzog movie starring Nicolas Cage, loosely inspired on the controversial 1992 crime drama directed by Abel Ferrara, will only get a limited release in November before going to home video.
Update: the release date has been moved to April 6, 2010.
WOW..this isn't even out in theaters yet, and already a release date..the original BL is nutso..so I can only imagine how this is gonna be w/ Cage starring and Herzog directing!
i had no idea there was a remake coming out. this Herzog and Cage pairing should be something good. but i noticed there was a DVD special edition of the original released i think a couple of months ago. anyone know when the blu-ray of that comes out???
This movie is already being placed in the limited theater release,atleast it's not straight to video. Looks like Cage might have to do another National Treasure after this, just so he stops sinking in the quicksand that is his career. The movie shows in limited theaters starting Nov. 20th
Actually, this information is no longer correct. The home video release date is now TBD. It was released in theaters Nov 20, goes wider Nov 25 and we hope everywhere in December.
