Dorian Gray Blu-ray Announced

Blu-ray Movies Momentum Pictures has announced the release of 'Dorian Gray' on Blu-ray in the UK on January 18, 2010, day-and-date with the DVD. This "sexed-up Gothic retelling" of Oscar Wilde's classic novel stars Ben Barnes (Prince Caspian from the eponymous 'Narnia' second installment) and Colin Firth. There is no information regarding region coding at the moment.

Special features include:
  • Commentary with director Oliver Parker and scriptwriter Toby Finlay
  • Deleted scenes
  • Making of Dorian Gray
  • Costume, location and special-effects featurettes

Liked the original 1945 version. I'll have to rent this one to see how it is first.

It actually would have been cooler if this release had both versions (ala "Day the Earth Stood Still"). But alas, both versions are owned by different studios.

I did not know this existed. I too like the original film -- it's striking when they show that painting in color at the end, but I always felt it was too PG for a dark story.
