BD-Connect BD-Live Software Launched

Today, Los Angeles-based disc producer Giant Interactive is officially launching BD-Connect, a BD-Live application that allows for rapid loading, streaming and downloading, as well as user-generated quizzes, trivia, RSS feeds, photo galleries, marketing banners, menu widgets and synchronized movie viewing.
BD-Connect had already been used in 400 European Blu-ray releases, under the name dynamicHD.
So far, BD-Connect has been implemented in Paramount's 'CSI' (First and Ninth Seasons), where it offers access to footage from forensics conferences, and 'Star Trek: The Original Series'.
Giant Interactive president Jeff Stabenau said that BD-Connect also works “seamlessly” with BD Live community Web sites, such as Twitter and Facebook, as well as iPhone applications. "Right now a lot of these BD Live solutions, at least those so far, have enhanced just one specific title," Stabenau said. "That makes it limited. … Ours, out of the box, works."

Is BD-Connect different from BD-Live? If so, will the old movie be able to have this feature? |

Does that mean studios WILL give all codes necessary BEFORE a title is released so my Sharp player doesn't have to wait weeks for firmware updates???????????????????? That would be most refreshing and welcome! |

mishal, no. BD-Connect is a marketing term created by Giant Interactive to label their program that works using the BD-Live standard. This means that you must have a BD-Live capable player, but their program BD-Connect is available for all studios to license.
Trekofile, this doesn't have anything to do with firmware. |

I really wish all manfacturers start releasing firmware updates to enable these feature ASAP. I don't want to have the same bad experience i had with Crank 2 & T2 Skynet edition |
