Gremlins and Green Mile See Expanded Release

Posted November 4, 2009 08:46 AM by Josh Dreuth

Warner Bros. Warner Home Video has announced that they will release 'Gremlins' and 'The Green Mile' for Blu-ray on December 1st. Both of these titles have been available exclusively at certain retailers (Target got 'Gremlins' while Best Buy has 'The Green Mile'), but both titles will be available at every Blu-ray retailer starting December 1st.

Blu-ray.com has already reviewed both 'Gremlins' and 'The Green Mile', so check them out for a full run down on technical specs, special features, and overall quality of the release.

Gremlins is a bit dated now ive just watched it through.

Maybe now we'll actually see a reasonable price for The Green Mile.

will the Green Mile be a digibook again in the general availability?

I almost bought Gremlins at too high of a price at Target. This is good news.

demiscy: I hope not otherwise I will continue to pass it up. Stupid digibooks.

I don't know why Warner Brothers didn't release these Blu-ray titles at all the stores in the first place, which it didn't make sense.

Does anyone really like digibooks? I have yet to get one and doubt I'd be happy about getting one because it can't possible last long or be very sturdy to use. I'd rather have a standard plastic Blu-ray case.

I like the digibooks. I don't need all my blu-rays to have the same uniform look which seems to be the reason some people don't like them.

But I'll tell you what I hate: Retailer Exclusives!

The digibooks are kind of nice. Nothing says "Special Edition" like having a disc in a book. I have a few and I'm worried that they won't hold up, too. I've put them in a separate section of one of my blu bookcases so that they don't get handled as much.

I got both of these. I watched Gremlins and the PQ is fantastic based upon how dark and soft the source material is. Yes, the price was high but it's one of my favorite movies.

Haven't watched the Green Mile yet.

I, too, like the digibooks, but I wouldn't want everything to be in a digibook.

I'll pick both of these up on Dec. 1st from amazon.com.

What about "The Goonies"? It's about time for it to have a US release!

Yay! With widespread release, hopefully a little more price competition. The Target price for the catalog film is ridiculous.

I like the digibooks as well and they are sturdy enough to set on your shelf and hold your disc while you aren't watching it. Unless you plan on throwing them around the room and against the wall the digibooks hold up extremely well. I guess you all don't buy books with hard covers either, that is if you even read.

I am all for the discontinuation of these stupidbook's ohh I mean digibook's! They look dumb don't match other movies but wait we get a book that we will glance through once and never again! If you must continue with these give us the option to choose the digibook or standard "way it should be" case!

I like the digibooks they look cool compared to the standard BluRay cases. I bought Gremlins day one, and didn't really mind the price since it's one of my all time favorite movies I didn't feel like waiting around for the price to drop. I didn't care for the Green Mile though.

In Canada I've seen Gremlins at lots of places including Blockbuster, HMV, and Best Buy.
