Amazon has an interesting BD-related "lightning deal" going on now: for a
very limited time, you can buy 'Watchmen (Amazon exclusive Nite Owl Edition)' for only $49.99, and 'GoodFellas' for $9.99. This offer expires at 12 p.m. PST, or when stock runs out.
Note that 'Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut' was released a week ago, and that 'Goodfellas: 20th Anniversary Edition' has been announced for next February.
(select "Movies and TV" in the category pulldown list)
Thanks to forum member jhansla.
The deal has expired now.

Smart strategy, get rid of inferior inventory that they will struggle to sell at regular price. |

As far as I know the only change for Goodfellas is some stupid gangster-related Warner cartoons and a couple of featurettes. |

Get the $10 Goodfellas, as the new Goodfellas doesn't have lossless anyway...
edit: the guy below is correct, there is no "official" statement on the audio specs, our news source here indicated that the WB site said a 5.1 DD soundtrack, but dont think it was an "official" audio spec announcement. still though, the 20th anniversary edition has a big brochure and big marketing, and yet no audio announcement...smells very fishy... |

not true...
word has it that this will be in fact a new transfer to correct a problem on the last one.
ALSO no confirmation on any of the audio specs yet as well |

So Warner is basically putting out a movie already out on Blu-Ray with limited additions and no updates on video/audio?
And people wonder why consumers are converting fast enough, it's right there! The studios are scamming the consumers again and again by doing idiotic things like this.
Lack of titles on Blu, so why not re-release 300, Goodfellas and Casablanca again and again?
Why not put out lousy transfers only to update it later on?
Stupidity, really. It's the greed and the consumer is fed up. |
