How ironic that an anti-capitalism film is being SOLD. Hey Moore guess what "producing" a movie that you "charge" people to see than having that movie again "produced" for home video that people have to "buy" is? Come on take a guess.

@Rainman208 either you haven't seen the movie or you miss the point.

Ha, you expect those <explitive deleted>s to actually watch one of his films... might get them to thinking rather than just jerking their knees (or whatever it they're jerking).

Might as well release it now... Nobody went to the theater to see this crap...

Never have and never will spend a penny on Moore's anti-Americanism.

He'd last about 2 minutes in Cuba, then he'd be begging and pleading to come back to the U.S.

I don't find this at all ironic. Like mikl says, you miss the point.

Canada is a democratic socialism. we have longer life expectancies, higher job satisfaction, higher employment rates, a higher "happiness index", lower violent crime rates, we work fewer hours yet we're wealthier, we have more sex....
http://www.macleans.ca/canada/national/article.jsp?content=20080625_50113_50113&page=1
so don't go too hard on socialism. edit: facts are facts, how do you "minus vote" facts?

@Branden: what facts? a June 2008 Canadian propaganda article that cites 2004 data as "the most recent available"????

@surfdude12: i have every right to be a proud canadian, you have every right to believe anything that doesn't confirm USA's superiority is propaganda. if you know of more recent 'non-propaganda' facts then cite them.

Moore's point was the US's "capitalism" is actually "rogue capitalism" in which corporate crooks run amok and have fail-proof insurance in the form of bailouts.

So please stop with the Anti-America bull flop......unless you enjoy giving money to corporate crooks to spend on spa visits.

@Branden: "blind hatred of socialism"??? i dont want to get into politics here, its not the place. suffice it to say that I've lived in Canada and the US. The US constitution and socialism are oil and water, anyone with US constitutional knowledge knows that. That's just fact. Just to let you know that its not a matter of "learning" anything about socialism, as you put it, but rather that it cant exist here.

by the way, you do have the right to be a proud canadian, I met many great canadians when i lived up there. what you dont have the right to do is cite 2004 data as 2009 fact.

Just because a person questions America's practices and policies, does not make them anti-American. Last time I checked, there was something called freedom of speech, and exercising that right means you live in a free country, and for all you Moore haters you seem to have a problem when someone actually exercises that right.

Why is the United States the greatest country on earth? Because of rampant crime? Racial hatred? Starting wars in countries like Iraq who had nothing to do with 9/11? The fact people go broke trying to pay their medical bills? Because corporations run the country into bankruptcy and the government is left to bail them out?

America has the potential to be the greatest country on Earth. Freedom of speech, to organize, practice your choice of religion, etc, you got it. Now you need to take better care of your poor, sick and elderly: That's what Michael Moore is trying to draw your attention to in his excellent, award-winning films .

I dont understand why many people confuse legitamate complaints, with "anti-americanism" I was born and raised in the United States of America and I love it here, but I am aware of some obvious flaws that the USA has. However when I mention them, I too have been called a comunist or anti-American because I feel that every human being should have the right to free quality health care, and schooling.

Ummm... I wonder if we can talk about the film? I enjoyed it and I'll definitely think about picking it up at some point. I want some of his other films though. Stop whining about politics on news about the film, either you like his views or you don't. He's a solid filmmaker.

This is just a sidenote but pretty bizarre, Capitalism was a widely talked about documentary that got pretty favorable reviews and it apparently won't be eligible for an Oscar nomination in the Documentary category. Then at the same time Chipmunks 2 (which hasn't even been released yet and will undoubtedly be a piece of garbage anyway) is eligible for a nomination for animated feature. I don't know what kind of system they're using over there, but it ain't working.

I love reading the comments by the Glenn Beck short-bus fan base. Apparently it's anti-American to call out banks for stealing billions from their own country. He's annoying as hell but what he says is the truth. I also love all of these idiots yelling about socialism. Here's the truth: If you are in a union-shut up. If you want a police force or fire services, -shut up. If you want public schools-shut up. If you want Social Security-shut up.

This is what I always say, SOME OF US HAVE LOVED THIS MIGHTY MONEY SO MUCH THAT WE DON'T CARE ABOUT THE NEXT PERSON OR WHAT THEY ARE GOING THROUGH AS LONG AS WE WE ARE DOING GOOD (WEALTHY). I'M FROM AFRICA, BUT REALLY LOVE THIS COUNTRY BECAUSE IT HAS FREEDOMS AND ALL THAT BUT THIS A BIG SHAME KIND OFF. WE HAVE A 14 TRILLION DOLLAR ECONOMY BUT CAN'T EVEN TAKE CARE OF OUR PEOPLE BUT YET WE INVADE OTHER COUNTRIES BECAUSE WE SUSPECT SOMETHING. This is a fact that we don't like to admit; Our business crooks like take millions of dollars from investor as a bonus even if they didn't do shit""". There is nothing wrong with caring for your own people's interest like the Canadians and Europeans do but we just feel like not to. We pray day and night to our capitalism so much that we have forgotten our humanity towards each other and EACH TIME WE SE EVEN SEE A LITTLE cliche in our policies we label it as either socialism or communism. And in doing so we have disrespected many countries just to make our economy grow more and more. Again I consider my self American because I have a citizenship, plus I pay taxes and I think we should really do better than this.

Okay, so Moore is anti-American because he criticizes some aspects of American policy, American politicians, and American society. I can accept that definition, as long as the people calling Moore "Anti-American" can accept that as soon as THEY criticize some aspects of American policy, American politicians, or American society, THEY are equally anti-American.
