PS3's Blu-ray Functionality Promoted in New Ad

Posted November 21, 2009 05:11 AM by Juan Calonge

PlayStation 3 slim A new PlayStation 3 puts BD playback front and center, within the "Dear PlayStation" theme of its new campaign. It features an "unhappy grandchild", complaining that his grandma "won't stop watching Blu-ray movies" on his PS3. A VP for "Blu-ray Superiority" (sic) replies, "for 299 bucks you don't just get a sweet gaming machine, you get the best Blu-ray player around built-in for free."

Ironically, the grandmother is seen in the background watching 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen', while the VP was seemingly enjoying 'Star Trek' during his lunch break.

both of those movies in the background are scoped why do they always crop them to 16:9 flat if they are scoped.

Transformers was IMAX though so I understand that there are some 16:9 sequences.

Why is it ironic about the movies they were watching? Cuz R2-D2 makes an appearance in both?

All of the PS3s new ads have been really funny,. The actor they got was a great choice I've seen him in other commercials and he is hilarious.

Juan: Why (sic)? Sic is typically used to indicate a mistake in the quoted text, and there's no mistake to be found.

Great ad though...this campaign has been, at time, devastatingly funny.

Yeah, I'm confused by the whole (sic) [sic] thing as well as the irony part. (please somebody get my brackets joke.)

I didn't get the brackets joke, but after 5 minutes of research, I contend you are insinutating that sic in parentheses is incorrect and that sic in brackets is correct.
