MGM Home Entertainment, in conjunction with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, has announced that it will release 'Fame' on Blu-ray on January 12, 2010. This "reinvention" of the Alan Parker 1980 movie (which, in turn, is announced on Blu-ray for January 26) will feature the theatrical and "extended dance" versions of the film, as well as deleted scenes and a digital copy of the movie.

I don't think I'm really interested in the movie, but from the HD trailers I saw on YouTube, the video is going to probably looking fantastic. |

I'd like to have the original, but will probably Netflix it first to see if it's as good as I remember it being when it first came out. I have little to no interest in the remake. The previews made it look like American Idol High School. |

David Bowie's "Fame" is the best IMO! |

wow, so MGM has no money yet they decide to release this movie on bluray instead of some of their catelog titles that would be guaranteed to be huge sellers (the remaining bond films). I know it was a new relese, but it tanked at the box office, why take the risk of spending money to put out a bluray that will also not return a profit??
no wonder the studio has no money, they seem to be going out of their way to not make any |

The original 1980 Fame, an influential, high-energy hit from British director Alan Parker that won two Academy Awards for music and was Oscar-nominated in four additional categories, also spawned a television series, a Broadway musical, a world tour, and a reality TV show. |
