So without the badge and map etc... this one will cost a lot less money?

Uh, there was no bonus disc in the Blu-ray version. Just the 5 discs for the 5 films (plus trinkets of course). I think the special features were just on one of the discs or spread out or something.

The "Out of the Shadows" documentery IS included on the Digibook of "Dirty Harry" that I have! Not sure about the Ultimate set though, don't own that one. Has Eastwood ever done or participated in a audio commentary himself?

soooo, this is the same thing minus a documentary and some trinkets? What's the point of
this? As already mentioned, how about some new releases as opposed to worthless
double dips??

Come on Warner, release unreleased titles instead of the double dipping BS.

so they released these movies already and now they are doing it again with proper extras included?

I'd be pleased if they re-released these titles separately (since I only want _Dirty Harry_ and _Magnum Force_), but a new box doesn't really entice me.

well they should be releasing these titles separately. If this isn't what they are now doing then I think it's a little ridiculous. These title have been available separately in other countries ever since they came out. Hopefully Warner will break them up in the US soon. I don't see much point in a new boxset unless it is significantly lower priced, as the original set has always been way too expensive imo. I went ahead and got all 5 films from the UK long ago, and you end up saving money and getting individual cases to boot.

Rereleasing something in a different package does not prevent other, new titles from being released. There are a dozen SD DVD reissues each week - it's just so common you don't even notice it.

All the documentaries will still be included. My point was that they are included on the actual BD movie discs, and not a separate "bonus disc" like with the DVD version. This sounds like it will be the exact same 5 discs available in the set before, now just with the discs by themselves and no silly trinkets.

Guys, this isn't really a double dip in the classic sense. They released the souped up Ultimate Collector's Edition with added trinkets, and now this is the stripped down regular version for less fanatical fans. It's the same thing they did with Casablanca. They put out the big box with added trinkets and such, and then followed it up with the disc-only version. That's what this is. The discs-only version. They're done producing the UCE. That's all.

Personally, I'm thrilled they're releasing this version. I hate BIG BOX UCE releases.

I'm glad they are doing this, just because in Canada the Ultimate Collector's Edition is impossible to find. I found one a couple months back in an independent video store for 139.99$ decided I could definitely wait on that price.

People just like to complain about WB.

Theses movies are being rereleased at what will almost assuredly be a LOWER price, and people are complaining.

This isn't really a double dip per se, this is just the equivalent of what they have been doing with the book packaging special editions and the UEs like Casablanca, Oz, and GWTW, they are just catching up the plain jane version that they started offering concurrently with the other Ultimates for those that don't want the swag. This doesn't take up any mastering time, doesn't prevent any new titles from coming out, etc. Odds are good that they are going to let this one sell until numbers drop off and then the separate releases will appear on the schedule. I get their thought process on this, since it seems the UE, SE, single disc pattern seems to be doing well for them on the recent releases, but I don't think they are going to get the results they want on this one. It is too late, there are plenty of sales and deals on the set with the swag and anyone who isn't going to buy that set at sale prices that wants any of these films is going to wait for the separate releases. Unless the street price of this is going to beat the regular bargain prices of the UE, why would anyone bother?

I am still waiting for The Outlaw Josie Wales.......maybe they could put that in a boxed western set of Clint's movies.
Would work for me!

I currently own the UK individual discs and they look so much nicer on the shelf than a big old box set

Warner, please release The Outlaw Josey Wales, Absolute Power, A Perfect World, Bird, White Hunter Black Heart, Heartbreak Ridge, Firefox, Mystic River, Tightrope, The Bridges of Madison County. Do I need to go on? These titles have proven themselves good sellers on several home video formats, so...Just 1 title every couple of months will do.
And Paramount can bring on Escape From Alcatraz.

Good news for me. I can do without the extra fluff that's inside the ultimate collector's edition.
