In an early announcement to retailers, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the Hilary Swank film 'Amelia' to Blu-ray on February 2nd. No technical specs or special features have been announced for this biographical film on legendary aviator Amelia Earhart.
The film was a box office bomb, taking in only $14M domestically after costing the studio an estimated $40M. While 'The Aviator' - a biographical film on another legendary aviator, Howard Hughes - was a commercial and critical success, 'Amelia' failed to do more that present a time line of Earhart's accomplishments.

omg--I thought this was Amelie for a second.
I just imported that title so I couldn't believe my bad luck.
but Amelie is Miramax in the US so it will probably be a while. |

Heard nothing but bad things about Amelia which is really surprising considering the subject matter and talent involved. |

Amelia was a beautiful looking film, but the arc and the pace were strange. I love Hilary Swank, and for what she was asked to do, she did well as usual, but the film did not wow me. It's not a day one for me, but for its visual accomplishments in recreating the time period, and for it's score, I'd pick it up at the $12 range or under. |

@moverob-you are correct. The window was shortened by studios to attempt to curb piracy and make money in the secondary home video market. Many movies that bomb in theaters for various reasons, at least have some "afterlife" in rentals, etc. |

It had Richard Gere in it. No wonder nobody wanted to see it. |

I thought this movie was wonderful, and I apparently was one of the few fans this movie had. I think Swank's portrayal was spot on. Yes I agree Gere was miscast as George Putnam, anyways this is still a day one purchase for me! I have said it before and I will say it again I think Amelia Earhart was the most interesting and influential women of the 20th century! |

I didn't realize Amelia did so poorly at the box office. Mira Nair might never get another US project. Although she does her best work in India. |
