In an early announcement to retailers, it has been revealed that Magnolia Home Entertainment will release John Woo's epic movie 'Red Cliff' on Blu-ray on March 30, 2010. This two-disc edition will include the 288-minute "international version", whereas the version of the film that was shown in the United States was a truncated two and a half hours. Other disc details are still unknown.
This title is already available in the UK and has been reviewed by Blu-ray.com.
Glad to see it will have the original long version , I hope for your sakes it will use the 7.1 audio as well. I'm sticking with my 2 disc Hong Kong version which is 5* for both PQ and AQ
I just watched the 2.5 hr. version this past week...and it was good. Wouldn't say a "masterpiece" but still good! I can't imagine how much more there must be in the expanded/original version!!!
Eh, thought the trailer looked pretty cool, but the movie was pretty disappointing. As for the 288 minutes, it could have, and should have been much much shorter. It's basically Troy with contrived Chinese storylines, philosophy, settings, even worse dialogue and a couple of bad miscasts, despite the # of notable Chinese actors. I hope others out there like it, but I for one thought it was a chore to finish and then wished I hadn't bothered.
