Amazon's Gold Box deal-of-the-day is a special offer on the Blu-ray box set
'The Bourne Trilogy', which only today can be
bought on Blu-ray for just $49.99, or 58% off MSRP. The price history for
this title shows that the lowest this title has been is $58.99.
ya the bourne trilogy's been so highly priced since it came out. i swear i bought it opening day for cheaper than the $89.99 price tag that i see at local retailers here in canada.
So...buy now or wait? I set my price tracker at 55, and now it's $5 under that, but I chose that price because it was a lot lower than it was selling for. DO we think Amazon will have the individual discs for $16 each, and all three movies are coming out on individual discs in the spring, right? I'm torn, but then again I've been spending too much money on BRDs lately and still have 2001, Goodfellas and Batman Begins to watch. Also, I got boned by Amazon's Band of Brother's deal last monday because I bought it sunday off eBay for a flat $50 just to have Amazon undercut me by $10 mere hours later.
Anybody, does the UK version handle all right in an American PS3? I mean do the extras play fine and everything? I want this set, but I'd be willing to part with the UK version if the only difference is cover art and the ratings system.
Damn. I never thought to check for an import. I bought this set during deepdiscounts last big sale for $52. About $17 a movie. I doubt the individual releases will be priced any lower than that, not for a while anyway. Besides didn't I read that Universal will start using flipper discs with that individual releases? If that's the case I'm glad I have my set. PQ & AQ are awesome on all three films.
I got mine at $44.99 way back when it came out with coupon. This set honestly should be priced at $44.99, roughly $15 a movie. That should be the highest price a catalog title should be unless it is some super duper edition.
$50 is still too high to pay for 3 catalog titles, even if they are awesome ones. $45 would be about right for the everyday price. Next Christmas, we should expect to see this at a much higher discount and I can wait that long.
At that price I think I'll keep my Bourne HD-DVD's until both my players die. They look just fine on that format without spending extra to get them on Blu. If the price ever dips down a good bit lower, I might double dip though--especially if the audio is better.
Servocrow makes valid points. Why wouldn't you order the UK version it is superb quality and ships quick.
LOBO as for the newbie comment you are on a BLU-Ray forum so either bring something valid to the table or keep it to yourself. HD is DEAD in case you haven't heard!!!!
Uh, I know HD is dead genius. I have over 130 Blu Rays, and 3 players. I simply stated that I won't double dip unless the price dips lower, which was also stated by others.

davidxiphoid, AWESOME , smart shopping.
Ive player the UK editions in a PS3 and regular standalone player with NO PROBLEMS!
bookcase,
same as US editions, they speak english in England
Fdm hit it on the head, you guys are hilarious. Life is way too short to be waiting for "Dream Prices" live a little, it's only off by a couple bucks! Lmao
I've been here much longer than you, and like this site just fine. You are free to leave though. I like Blu Rays fine too, and don't need you to tell me where I should go. Tell you what, you ignore me, and I'll be glad to do the same.
Lobo so you won't double dip on a Blu-ray title but yet you need 3 Blu-Ray players. Maybe you should find a girlfriend and get a life. You may have been here longer on the forum but you have contributed nothing on this subject. Try to focus and stay on topic and maybe just maybe other will take you serious!!!
Bourne 1 and 2 came out for awhile so not worth $16.67 each. I'd probably would pay that much for Bourne 3. Its a still a deal but not a golden one. I'll wait for part 4 or next year.
GoJoe. You can take your personal attacks somewhere else, as I'll be reporting them to the moderators. My personal life (I.E. get a girfriend) is none of your business.
As for the original subject, I love these movies, and didn't know there was a 4th coming. I guess it will be an original screen play though since Ludlum didn't write but 3 Bourne books to my knowledge. Of course ghost writers have been writing books under his name for years now.
Anyone know why this particular set has historically been at a higher price point that others? Given the pricing wars of the season on BDs, I would have to agree that at this price, it still feels too expensive for catalog movies.
LOBO all Servocrow and I are tryining to do is point out how any intelligent person can save money by buying the UK version if you would be paying attention a nice amount of people seem to understand this fact and are doing just that...If saving money is a hard concept for you to understand then you appear to be beyond help and should just stick with your dead HD format discs. As for reporting to the moderator feel free, but In your free time between posting items that have no bearing on the topic please read The Constitution Of The United States Of America here is a link to it

So...simply because we have HD-DVD movies still in addition to Blu-rays, we aren't welcome on this site anymore? Doubt it lamers.
GoJoe and servocrow need to drain the hate. Fill it with vodka or something.
Sarcasm, personal jabs, and insults to intelligence are not warranted or welcome. This news article will be much better once cleaned out. Lastly, please don't feed the trolls!
Chnandler_Bong you are more than welcome on here to talk about blu-ray as the title of this site is Blu-Ray.com not HD.com I am sure if you want to discuss all your wonderful HD titles there is a forum out there for you somewhere but this AIN'T IT
You're discussing where to find the cheapest BD titles, not how to solve the economic crisis. When references to freedom of speech and the Constitution start to appear in a freaking Blu-Ray forum, one would hope you'd realize you've strayed a touch off topic. I think you all need to take a deep breath and calm yourselves and realize there's more important things to argue about than the triviality of where to find the Bourne Trilogy the cheapest.
On the other hand, I'm am pretty PO'ed I bought this thing for basically retail off Amazon a month ago. Where were you bickering geniuses then when I needed you?!?!?
Aside from the price I paid for my Bourne Trilogy copy, I wonder if anybody else dealt with this. The case of the copy of the Bourne Identity that was included in my trilogy was all scratched up. Not the disc, just the outer case. I'm sure that individual copies of all three of the movies were sitting around in warehouses somewhere and when the good folks at Universal decided to release them as a box set, they just asked the warehouses to package all of their extraneous copies in the fancy magnetic box set casing. But sadly, that's how at least one of my copies looked when I received it.
WOW Servocrow comes through again. Great find you are awsome. You are what the forums have been made for. I have now purchased both sets at what it would cost usually for Bourne Trilogy by itself.
LOBO u might want to check out The Godfather Trilogy in the UK unless of course you have it on HD
Correct me if Im wrong, but on the UK versions arent the movies region free, but all of the special features are stil regions 2 PAL? I have bought a few region free UK blu rays before and all the special features have been in PAL FORMAT.
First of all the prices for these movies when they were available on HDDVD as flip discs were averaging for $15 a piece. These ate way too expensive for something that was for the most part unchanged. On the other hand when they release them individually they are going to be flip discs which honestlyfor HDDVD sucked so I would rather have these version then the individuals which might be glitchie the way there HDDVD Counterparts.
