Best Buy is holding a special sale on all series published by HBO, including
those released on Blu-ray, which are 50% off MSRP – and some even
cheaper, such as 'The Sopranos' box sets, which can be bought for $29.99
each. This promotion runs from December 20 to December 26.
I got Band of Brothers last January for $34.99... from Amazon. Still haven't found time to watch it but I'd heard so much about it that I couldn't pass up the deal.
I really like Band of Brothers, but hesitated buying it on BD since it's not exactly something I'd watch often (or more than once). However... at this price it's hard to pass up.
Still... a trip to Best Buy (gas and the tax) doesn't make it nearly as attractive as if Amazon would price match (since I have Prime). I must have missed it at $35 in January, but if Amazon does offer it at this price (or below!) I will pick it up this time.
I agree on Generation Kill, I have been waiting a loooong time to purchase. It seems all the tv shows I own on high def are from HBO, who would have guessed?
I just got True Blood for 49.96 as a Christmas gift for wife at Walmart. I'm pretty sure that they price match if you have a receipt, and the ad. Anyone familiar with this? Happy holidays!
For all those Costco members, BoB is available for $29.99. The deal runs 12/18-12/24. I got one yesterday. They also have $15 off JA, TB#1, and Sapranos #1,
Just ordered Generation Kill for local pickup, forgot I had a PayPal $20 credit from Best Buy when I bought a Laptop a month ago so I applied it and got Generation Kill for $14 and change. Not a bad deal....Haven't seen it yet so I hope it was worth the blind buy...
@ jjirons69: I went to my local Costco and they do have BoB on sale but when I asked the cashier to do a price check for me, the price (after the $15 off) is still around $47 and change. You probably got the regular/standard DVD of BoB for $29.99, not the Blu Ray version. Please confirm.
ogscorpion - I got the BD, watched two episodes last night. Near the checkout line, they have the Costco Connection Magazine with Jimmy Kimmel on the front. It's listed on page 38 or 41. See link. (http://www.costcoconnection.com/connection/200912#pg41) I brought it to they're attention, since the sale was not posted in the BD section. It scanned as $29.99 in the self-check line. It's priced at $44.99 on the box.
I also picked up the blu-ray version of "Band of Brother's" from Costco last Friday for $29.99. $15 came off at the register; no coupon or proof required.
I had the DVD version, too. The sound and PQ is night and day. Definitely worth the double-dip on this one (plus the DVD version makes a good Christmas gift).
Sopranos s01, s06:pt1, and s06:pt2 have been price matched. Anyone know if they are the new cover art similar to season one or the original bulky blu ray box similar to hd-dvd?
