The marketing for this thing sucked, I don't know if the movie was bad but all I know no one was interested in seeing it. It was a movie based on the books by Darren Shan, how the f*ck could you leave that out in marketing???
Looked absolutely bizarre, like a tweener version of The Little Vampire, from the trailer. All the reviews I read described it as an afterschool special with vampires. I'll pass on this one.
This movie was terrible, it's worse than Twilight. Moral: Never combine 3 books into one movie. While no one thought vampires would be ruined even more with Twilight's Sparkling Vampires, this movie comes up with the dumbest name for a type of vampire, Vampineze. Only two things come to mind, a chimpanzee vampire or an Asian vampire.
This movie looked like a HUGE waste of time. Won't even bother. I really want to know about the BD release for Where the Wild Things Are. That movie is so much better.
Yes, it was lame alright. Throughout the whole thing you get the idea it's all just trying way too hard to be a blockbuster megahit. Script was a total mess, the kid they got to play Darren is a charisma vacuum, the direction was chaotic, and folks who have read the books told me they hated it because apparently the books are serious horror stories and with the movie they went for cheesy comedy, courtesy of the American Pie director. It's like they were trying to appeal to Harry Potter fans instead of Darren Shan fans. John C. Reilly has some good bits but that's all you can say.
read the books / they are amazing / Shan was done no justice / i'm on the 9th book and i've been hooked since the 1st / i could tell right away by the cast that they royally screwed this one up /Monkey girl---ummm nooooo there is no monkey girl-he falls in love with a human not a monkey chick which so far is not in the series at all? it's too bad too / it's true this is a horror series with comedy mixed into the books and alot of banter between the characters but we are talking arms ripped off type of dark stuff here and they went way too much for the cheese or the harry potter fans like the post above says / still if you get a chance read the books they are awesome / also if you like that sort of thing read "World War Z" a zombie book which is going to become a movie and could be the coolest zombie flick ever if done correctly with a large budget
I saw the Movie and was disappointed, only chance of Me buying is if it eventually falls to the $10 range. The Young lead in the Movie lacked charisma,John C. was fine as usual.
