Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) today announced that the holiday season retail sales of PS3 systems during "the five weeks following the last week of November 2009" (Nov. 23-Dec 27 for Asia, Nov. 24-Dec. 28 for North America, and Nov. 21-Dec. 25 for Europe and PAL territories) exceeded 3.8 million units worldwide. The PS3 platform experienced a 76% increase in hardware sales compared to the same period in the previous year, marking the highest record sales for PS3 hardware for a holiday period.
SCEI also informed that that during the course of 2010, PS3 users will be able to enjoy 3-D games and movies by updating their PS3 system with the supported firmware updates. Update details will be announced when they become available.

I absolutely love my PS3. I think it has great games, but I mainly use it for Blu-ray capability. That's the main reason I bought it 2 years ago. I'm very excited to hear about the 3-D games amidst all of the news about upcoming 3-D capable TVs. |

Yes, you will need glasses. The review of Avatar the game with the glasses wasn't so positive though, saying it was more of a gimmick. |

Great for the PS3. As for 3-D, it sure would be nice if my Samsung 8500 could display 3-D with just a firmware update as well. |

I upgraded my uber 80 gig to a nice PS3 slim 250 gig on black friday last year. The slim is much quieter while watching a blu-ray than the big one was! |

I've had my PS3 for almost 3 years and i've never had a single problem with it. I don'y get how some say its a crappy piece of equipment, how rough to you treat the system if it keep fucking up on you? |

Too bad the Slim looks like crap. I hate how they just used the same material as the PS2 for the shell. >:|
But I'm glad that the sales have skyrocketed, the PS3 IS the far superior system in my oppinion.
No im not a fanboy, I have used all 3 systems and the PS3 out performs the others. |

When BD won the HD war, I started looking around for a player. I wanted profile 2.0 and wireless since my TV in the living room is not anywhere close to my internet connection and I use wireless. At that time, not one BD player on the market offered wireless except for the PS3. I do not play video games, so my purchase would be strictly to watch BD. That is what I got and I’m completely satisfied with that decision. This player is still probably the fastest loading BD player on the market and my internet connection is easy and quick. I’m still amazed that no players were available then to provide similar perks, if PS3 could do it. |

@ WDm81
DOA out of the box does not equal rough treatment. Would you blame the 360's RROD on rough treatment, too? |

I forgot to mention the fact that I now watch Netflix video streaming via my PS3 (free via a disc sent from NF), and the future conversion and use of 3D. Imagine the people who invested in recent BD players and will find that they cannot watch 3D with it but will have to buy new players -- again? |

My launch 60GB is still working perfectly, and I just got another 250GB PS3 for my bedroom. I can honestly say that the PS3 is so far the best piece of technology I have purchased! |

Hopefully, my third time with the PS3 is the charm and it works as well as all yours (you lucky bastards) and at least half as long as my Genesis (purchased in 1989), my PS1 (1996), and my Dreamcast (1999), which, except for the PS1 (though I might have to pull it out since the Slim isn't compatible with PS1 games like Symphony of the Night), I still use regularly and have survived my "rough" ways. |

I own a 2nd Gen 40GB, upgraded to 320 GB. Works as good as the day I bought it. Just wish I could quiet the fan more. |
