The Netherlands branch of Universal Studios Home Entertainment has listed Steven Spielberg's 'Jurassic Park' and 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park' as coming soon to Blu-ray, with a release date of November 4. 'Jurassic Park III' was not mentioned. No other release details or special features are known at this early stage.
Thanks to forum members "Anthooo" and "*TIMMIE*".
Correction: it's the Dutch branch not the German branch. Sorry for the error.
Highly unlikely that it will be just 1 and 2. I thought the main problem with Jurassic Park III was it was a little short, and seemed to cut off suddenly. They made this big thing about the animals staying in the centre of the Island and not going to the shore because of something else, and then that never played out. But the Spinosaurus was impressive, and the Pterosaurs.
Let's hope it will come soon than expected! I can't wait, it's my favourite movie ever!!!! The one that started my passion for directing and cinema itself.
YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! I hope this rumor is true as well, this is my most highly anticipated Blu release and the main reason why I went Blu in the first place!
I am bias against 2, in both cases I read the book first, 1 is a fair movie of the book, 2 SUCKED! The Lost World is the worst of the three of them IMO, and yes that means I like 3 better than 2.
But I would buy 1 and 3 in a heart beat.
I prefer part 3 to part 2. The Lost World was one of the biggest disappointments of my young life, while I found part 3 perfectly enjoyable (if forgettable). Still, I'd buy all 3 in a heart beat. I've learned to forgive part 2 over the years, and it's a fun series.
Yes, a trilogy boxset would be great. Jurassic Park started my passion for movies, and I can't wait to see it in blu-ray. Even though the sequels weren't as good, I still love them. I'm just a sucker for dinosaurs causing havoc.
If this is true, great news! This is reason enough to have blu ray! I like 1 and 2. 3rd one felt generic to me. Dino's looked different and music sounded wannabe...
I'm trying to remember the DvD Chapter!??! I think it's like....11 or 13??
Anyway...the T-REX roar when they are in the Jeeps has been an audio benchmark for my setup for YEEEEEEEEARS!!! (You'd think I'd remember the chapter :/ )
I would get the Original, for being more meaningful, and maybe the 3rd, because the visual effects are much better, and the cast (Willima H. Macy, Tea Leoni) is great, and it's just a lot of fun. The Spino versus T-rex is badass, or the cellphone jokes!
I can't stand Lost World. The cast and the characters are dreadful. One of the few shots I love is the last one, where you see the dinosaurs in their natural habitat.
When this comes to Blu, I'm firing this up and turning all the lights off and putting a glass of water on my table and seeing if it vibrates with the T-Rex Steps just like in the movie. lol.. Loved 1, don't mind 2, and while not as good as 1 I did enjoy 3 also. William H. Macy+dinosaurs=enjoyment for me. lol Day 1 purchase regardless
I don't undersand the dissapointment in Lost World. I thought it was excellent. Part 3 felt like a cheat, although still enjoyable for the most part. I would have liked it SO much more if the T-Rex would have come back at the end and killed the Spinosaurus. I couldn't believe they missed such an obvious opportunity to get the audience to jump up and cheer. Instead the film just sort of limps across the finish line.
We should all be wary of this news because Universal announced Jurassic Park TWICE for HD DVD and had to retract it both times.
I agree it would seem likely to hit Blu coinciding with JP4, but that has gotten trouble getting off the ground. Supposedly it's about the government using dinosaurs as military weapons and strapping guns on them, which sounds pretty retarded.
I dis agree with The Soviet. Part 3 was an Oscar winner compared to 2. Speilberg really screwed up a great book. Part 2 is proof when studios dabble too much. Just in time for Christmas. Now I know what to tell my mom to get me :-)
Man, I'd love to see the first one on Blu-ray. I remember the it being a demo disc to show off my Laserdisc all those years ago. Yeah, I had LD, so what?
Like a lot of folks I think 2 is the weakest part of this series, and in no small part to casting. Sam O'Neil just made the films, and while I really enjoy Jeff Goldblum as a secondary character he's never been able to carry a major film as a lead (The Fly notwithstanding) -- he's just so much better at being the sarcastic sideline character.
Hope this comes to pass -- I've held off watching these for many years now and at this point I think I'll wait until they come to Blu regardless of how long that takes.
First Forbidden Planet is announced, then yesterday France indicated Armageddon in May and today Jurrasic Park; the only movie in my top four remaining is True Lies. I am so looking forward to catalog Blu-rays coming in 2010.
Oddly, I have only seen each Jurassic Park movie in the theatres. Looking forward to seeing them again, I only really remember 1 being any good, but I enjoy pretty much any stupid mindless movie anyway.
Whatever the case may be, these movies definately deserve BD treatment, as the DVDs are nearly unwatchable on an HD set. Lost World looks like shit. 'Bout as bad as Demolition Man.
This Universal site also lists these Uni films coming to Blu.
Nanny McPhee (3/25)
It's Complicated (4/29)
Apollo 13, Carlito's Way, Elizabeth, Elizabeth the Golden Age, Out of Africa (5/27)
The Wolf Man (2010) (6/15)
Psycho (1960) (11/4)
Backdraft (12/31)
These will most likely have U.S. release dates this year also.
Also...where the hell is Scarface? Come on now. A cult classic like that shouldn't be ignored like this.
Glad to hear Jurassic Park is finally coming to Blu. Maybe now that'll put an end to the seemingly unending influx of threads inquiring as to when it'll be released. =-)
I remember when I first purchased this on LD. When they released it on DVD the LD still sounded better IMOP. The bass in the T Rex thumping while escaping during the rain was very soft on DVD. Lets hope it sounds better on BluRay!
Like some others i actually prefer part 3 to 2. The Lost world is just so so for me and the 3rd one though enjoyable isn't a great movie either. Might get the first one if released seperatley. Just coz this was mentioned in the dutch sites i fully expect this will be a worldwide release. Theres no way universal would release a big catalogue title like this just in Europe.
I will buy the orignal again. I have the 3 pack on DVD. I will keep that in case I want to watch the other two movies, but Jurassic Park is what its all about! I hope they release them separately! There are some trilogies that should be released individually and others that should ONLY be released in box sets. This is not one of those trilogies!
My OCD is cringing at the thought of the 3rd movie not being included in an initial set...
Glad to see Spielberg movies finally coming around to Blu. It's been too long with just Close Encounters and Indiana Jones 4. Looks like, based on the buzz at least, we'll have Jurassic Park, Lost World, Minority Report, Saving Private Ryan, War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones 1-3 by the end of the year.
Let's hope that the reason that Jurrasic Park will not be released before the end of the year is due to the studio ensuring that only the finest transfer possible is released.
