Palisades Tartan has announced its immediate Blu-ray plans. As previously reported (see blu-ray.com, January 6), Park Chan-wook's Vengeance Trilogy will be released on BD on March 16. However, it will be a Best Buy exclusive until June. On May 18, the studio will release Michael Winterbottom's controversial shags-and-gigs movie 9 Songs.
Special features for 9 Songs include:
- Behind-the-scenes footage featuring the bands of 9 Songs
- Concert-only performance option
- Interviews with cast and crew
- Original theatrical trailer
- Trailers of Palisades Tartan's upcoming releases
With regard to the French thriller 36, it has been delayed without a date. The studio is considering releasing it theatrically in the US to give it additional support.

That is so awesome! Now I can have my pants pulled down over the price I love Best Buy over-priced exclusives. Oh, this is so a day 320 for me, once the price comes down. |

Does the Vengeance Trilogy all fit together? Or is it just a trilogy of films directed by Park Chan-wook that have similar storylines? I've only seen Oldboy, but if they are all related, I'll check out the other two. |

They have in common that they are all revenge movies and they are directed by the same director. Otherwise, they are as related as The Count of Montecristo and Kill Bill... |

TenaciousDHo, they're a thematic trilogy. Not a series of sequels. Each film is a stand alone story. |

Anyone know whether 9 Songs is the 'edited USA' version or the 'uncut UK' version? I guess by the 71 minute length it's 'uncut', but then again Amazon lists both versions as 71 minutes so who knows. I might give it a rent just to see what all the controversy was about (yeah, I know ... explicit sex).
I am looking forward to getting the Vengeance Trilogy though. I guess I'm in the minority but Oldboy was my least favorite of the three. |

The best thing about 9 Songs is the band performances. So I hope they do nice job with the audio. The BRMC and Elbow performances are worth the price alone.
As for PQ, hopefully they master from the source DV, not from the film print that was created by shooting a digital projection off a wall. |
