According to Spanish site Planeta HD, Warner Home Video will release the Alfred Hitchock movie Dial M for Murder on Blu-ray during this year. No reference is made of whether the 3D version of the movie will be included, but considering the stereoscopic feeding frenzy running rampant in Hollywood nowadays, that's a distinct possibility.
Planeta HD does mention the possibility that the movie will be released in a double feature along with its 1998 remake A Perfect Murder.

Awesome that this will be released. On a side note, I think studios are going to push this 3D too fast and too uick on people. |

Awesome news!
WB will keep this separate from the remake though--- can't see them doing a double bill with a Hitchcock flim. |

I highly doubt a 3D version will be included because they have probably been working on this one for a while.
It was known that this one was on the way.
I dream of the 3D version though--
for people that don't know, this film was originally in 3D so it would actually be appropriate for this one--
and hopefully one day it will get released in 3D.
my main interest in the current 3D "explosion" is to see original 50's 3D films come to bd in 3D.
now THAT would make the 3D trend exciting for sure. |

This is great news... Hitchcock was way ahead of his time. I will be looking forward to this release and waiting for more classics to be given the proper Blu-Ray treatment! |

Not my first choice when it comes to Hitchcock, but I'll take what I can get with Hitchcock. |

Finally more Hitchcock. And any time I can see Grace Kelly in HD, I'm there. |

I remember seeing this film awhile ago in 3D, double billed with Vincent Price's "House of Wax". Hitchcock's use of 3D was subtle, but he did like deep depth of field shots. In contrast, the "House of Wax" 3D was very "in your face", if anyone can remember the gratuitous yo-yo street performer.
BTW both of these were shown with polarized specs and not anaglyph. |

Please by itself Warner. No double feature with the dreadful A Perfect Murder. That would be like Universal releasing a double feature of Hitchcock's Psycho along with Van Sant's. |

I saw this in 3D about two years ago at a 3D film festival and it really doesn't have much in the way of 3D. 2D is definitely okay on this one. However, I would like to get Kiss Me, Kate in 3D because I heard that was phenomenal.
That said, I will be buying DMFM in Blu. |

btw: for people wondering, Warner only has the rights to about 9 of the Hitchcock films, and most of those are b&w.
this is one of the only other color Hitchcock's they have the rights to.
now I love b&w films, but it's not surprising that this one is Warner's next choice for a Hitchcock release.
I expect "Strangers On A Train" would be their next pick followed by perhaps "The Wrong Man"
Universal has the rights to all the later color films so direct your rage at them for not releasing anything. |

One of his very underrated classics. More Hitchcock on Blu-ray is always welcome. I really hope Universal follows suit, as they own most of his catalog from about 1945-Family Plot. |

I just wish Universal would start releasing some Hitchcock as well; they have the best titles in his catalog (Vertigo, Psycho, Rear Window, etc)... |

Good movie, but it mostly takes place in an appartment. It seems strange that this is coming to blu-ray now. Universal and paramount own the great Hitch classics. I would love to see Vertigo released in HD. |

A Pefect Murder is a great guilty pleasure. A wonderful alt take on the same idea. I have been waiting for A Pefect Murder on BD and really hope they can get it out on BD soon. |

I love this movie! Great news that more Hitchcock will soon be available! I agree 100% with TheManInBlu, it would be incredible if Universal started releasing their Hitchcock catalog, though there is a rumor that Psycho is coming in November for its 50th anniversary. |
