After information recently posted regarding an upcoming Blu-ray release of the HBO miniseries The Pacific, the studio has requested the removal of the video mentioning that the miniseries would be released on disc in time for Father's Day. HBO also clarifies that, while an exact release date has not been announced, it will not come out "any earlier than the second half of the year."
That just goes to show that there's some important people in touch with this website. I don't subscribe to HBO but I own/love BoB and for that reason alone I'll be buying Pacific as a blind buy on blu when it becomes available.
In other words: "We're afraid you're not going to subscribe to HBO if you know it's coming to Blu-ray in a few months, so we're going to keep the release date hazy so you patience will wear out, thus getting more money from you through HBO and the Blu-ray release."
I smell horseshit on this one. If the "studio" made this decision, then why in the hell did they announce it as such (June 15th) at the Opening Premier Party. Did they just suddenly realize what miller_time22 just said above?
This prob has to due with the very low viewers they had with Episode 1 - I think I read 4 million viewers, compared to 10 million for the premiere of BoB.
Good thing I'm the patient type. Blu-ray should be the way to see "The Pacific", and if HBO needs a lot of time to make this release, let them take the time. We can't have this Blu-ray release get messed up. HBO didn't mess up "Band of Brothers", and we expect the same treatment for "The Pacific". DON'T LET US DOWN, HBO!
They could also be holding off on this to release it near Remembrance day (veteran's day for you in the US), that is generally when north america gets more nostalgic for war heros and war stories
I belive BoB came out on Bluray on november 11th as well, Studios seem to rely on spur of the moment purchases of titles centered around holidays, although it makes me laugh at titles that clearly would be huge sellers at any time of the year like The pacific
ehhh I just called and added HBO. I'm grandfathered in on a lot of things with my Cable company so I'm still underpaying compared to their new prices so it wasn't a huge deal to add it for me. I'll be buying the Blu as well.
I am sure HBO read some of the post from earlier when this was being released in June about folks not wanting to subscribe and just waiting until then and they said "whoa back" and decided to release this in the Fall. I am still waiting.
