Sharp has revealed their first Blu-ray disc player, the BD-HP20S. Though we have seen it many times, IFA will be the first time we get specs regarding the upcoming player. It was revealed during their press conference, and while no specs or release date was given, Sharp made the statement that they would one day be the largest manufacturer of Blu-ray players. More to come on this player as the show officially kicks off.

If they intend to me the largest Blu-ray disc manufacturer, I am sure that the price will indeed be low!
Excellent news. |

How about an upper Blu-ray Home Theatre In a Box set up? Player that can decode all the HD formats + Receiver that can do same + 7.1 speaker set up??? ...All specially designed to deliver an optimal Blu-ray experience. Seen any of those? Pioneer, Sony, Sharp, Samsung - you listening?? Make one!! Blu-ray's all about getting the most out of a surround set up!! |

The player support is extremely important. It sends a huge message to the industry that these companies have enough faith in Blu-ray to invest their money in building players. |

WSCIV, Warner is still waiting on final confirmation about BD-Java 1.1 when PIP is mandated, hopefully sonner thsn Oct 31st, thats the ONLY reason why WB has delayed releases of movies like Batman and Matrix. They want the BD versions to have the same interactivity featuers and I guess I dont blame them for wanting to be fair to the consumers. I think Warner Brother's neutrality might end with them swinging to BLuray exclusivity when BDJ-1.1 is finalized and equivelant titles are offered for both formats, they will know why is it a waste of their time and money to release on HDDVD when the same copies of the Matrix trilogy, Batman, V for Vendetta will sell over 100,000 copies by year end, more than doubling the poor HDDVD numbers.....talking about that....I bet you Crapamount and poor Will Ferrel are PISSED about how poor their sales of Blades of Glory are on HDDVD....only if they had released it on BD, they would have guaranteed 20,000-30,000 in BD sales in just a few short weeks....baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! Hope they learn their lesson sooner than later...that should amount to almost 1 million dollars is revenues in just a few weeks, mutliply that by hmmm 50 hddvd exlcuive titles from Paramount and you can account for almost 50 million dollars in lost revenues from not going Blu! Lets see about 2-3 dozen manufactuers, studios, retailer all support Bluray, and only a jandful of HDDVD hardware, retail, studio supporters....all I can say, if we wanna close in and finish this battle by Spring 08, we need the $199 BD players!!! THATS IT!!! Oh yeah and hurry up and finish up the mandated 1.1 Java specs, and get going already with the 2.0 specs |
