Warner Home Video has announced Death Note Collection for release on Blu-ray on August 24. This double feature consists of Death Note and Death Note: The Last Name, the two Japanese live-action films made in 2006 based on the manga series of the same title. It will comprise three discs (two BDs and one DVD with two hours of all-new behind-the-scenes footage and trailers).
These movies were fantastic, not sure what you were watching VioletsAreBlu. I found the anime went on for about 10 episodes more than it needed to. Ken'ichi Matsuyama was so fantastic as 'L' in these movies I checked his performance out in Detroit Metal City and one or two other movies.
For those that can't wait, you can also get these from YesAsia.com right now as Taiwanese pressings (in Japanese with English subtitles):
great news! I loved the manga, was surprised by the quality of the anime and thought the live movie were not that bad. Even if I prefer manga or anime I will still get it if PQ & AQ is top notch
Awesome! I am pleasantly surprised with this announcement. Seems like two obscure titles to be released on Blu. Sounds like it will have some nice features, too.
Awesome!! OMG i've been waiting to hear this news for the longest time!!! Definitely day one buy for me too!!
Now, here's hoping they release the actual anime set on Blu . . . . anime is kickass. Out of all the animes, this one's got best Eng. voiceovers along with original Jap. voices. I'm sure the anime is way better to watch. I've seen the live action for about 10 minutes and I must say it's pretty good. Not bad at all
